I just find that ridiculous. How could you learn more advanced concepts of a certain subject when you cannot even grasp the basics.
I think its about not hurting the kids feelings as much as its about the principals not wanting to deal with angry parents when their precious little snow flake is kept back a grade.
While true, that still likely won't change the mindset of a person that hates losing.From 5 to 14 years old.
Some kids parents cant afford to put them on Rep teams, house league might be all they have.
I question participation medals, its basically a reward for just showing up. These participation medals really mean nothing to a kid.. I bet the vast majority are worn for a few days and then they are put at the bottom of a junk drawer. My championship medal was up on my wall for everyone to see ..

More has to be added. If they were willing to pay $6M for Clarkson, they are more than willing with Phaneuf at $7M.
Phaneuf for 1st + Schultz + Klefbom. As much as I hate him, top pairing d-men go for a TON in this league, especially with how desperate Edmonton must be for one..

I'm not high at all on this draft class. I don't think it would be wise to trade a top pairing defenceman in his prime signed long term for a ****ing draft pick. But I know HFBoards loves draft picks, so you're right in that I probably am alone. The only player in the top 3 I want is Ekblad, and he'll be gone by #3. Either way, I wouldn't trade Phaneuf for a chance to pick him anyways.

You'd be crazy to trade him. He is still a lower-tier #1/good #2 D-man. I'm sorry for all of your guy's blind hate but for the majority of the season Phaneuf played an amazing all-around game. His offense wasn't there so much but it's because he focused more on defense.

Exactly. The first 60 games of the season most of the Leafs board was in agreement this was Phaneuf's best season as a Leaf. He struggled a bit down the stretch and now everyone wants to dump him. It's insane, he wasn't even THAT bad.
Hah I don't know about that. He just owns the house across from mine. I always thought it was for his parents but it's been vacant for a couple years so I was surprised to see him there unloading some stuff in the garage and he left pretty quickly.

Did you guys just suddenly forget 3/4+ of the season or are you just basing the entire teams play down the stretch as to why you think Phaneuf sucks and needs to be traded. Again, don't you remember all of the threads praising Phaneuf on our boards all year then suddenly when we collapse "Oh Dion ****ing sucks he is barely a top 4 D-man."

Don't you want to get better by SURROUNDING OUR BEST D-MAN with good players instead of trading them away and basically having the worst D-core in the entire league. Maybe trade for a top 4 D-man, wait for Rielly, Gards, Finn, Percy etc. to fully develop, maybe Gunnar is still here by then who knows but the future isn't that grim.
Cut the grass, walked the dog, BBQed for the family, and now entertaining guests.
