Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose to Florida 3-2

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
A game where we needed the core four to step up and take advantage of Tkachuk, Ekblad and Marchand being out of the lineup and yet they did nothing again… Disappointing for sure. Basically what I’m expecting of this team come playoffs unfortunately. Just hoping loosing this time forces management to make a shakeup.

Other than Willy and one shot by JT, the big four were only visible in a negative way.

I don't think I've ever seen Marner make so many bad plays.
Not true I seen Willy throwing checcs everything else I can agree with Matthews is injured but he was the second most noticeable

It’s only the core four when marner struggles 😭😭😭 gimme a break re jig the top 6 PLZ

Good start to the first. Decent 3rd but not many great chances to tie. Outside the Knies tip, not much in 3rd despite desperation. (Reminder of playoffs). A win Tomorrow , while important for the standings, is critical for this teams confidence.

Team was ass
Core 4 disappeared again

No real depth
Core 4 , operates with a mindset of, "We're already wealthy, so why put in the effort or risk injury?"

You know they're losers because after they're eliminated from the playoffs, and are asked about roster changes they continue to say "This is the closest group I’ve ever been with, and I don’t want any changes."

Nobody cares. Underachievers will always prefer working under leadership that doesn’t set a high bar rather than being part of a team with clear goals and expectations.

Seems like an ownership issue though, Berube has also been very careful not to criticise the core 4. Though maybe he wasnt very critical with St.Louis. We need a coach like Roy or Tortorella.

Knies and Tanev should be wearing A's on this team.

They played ok, for the most part. Hit the post twice on the same PP which would have tied it. The PK not getting it done and the the core not doing anything is what sunk us. Laughton continues to unimpress.

"Never say never to a Paul Maurice coached team"

This was Florida with Tkachuk. Ekblad and Marchand.

Matthews and Marner completely AWOL
This team would probably perform moderately better under Maurice… but Maurice wouldn't turn Marner into a non-perimeter player. He isn't going to turn Matthews into Tkachuk.

I'm shocked we keep rolling Matthews with Marner instead of physical linemates. Bertuzzi, Domi, and Matthews were beasts physically. Marner neuters Matthews. Keefe learned this by his last couple years and was beginning to separate them.

As close to a playoff game as possible and the guy who thinks he is worth $14m looked like Alex Kerfoot.

The rest of this lousy core sucked as well except for the Willy pass and Tavares goal.

34 now has 1 5 vs 5 goal in last 16. Is he injured or just can't be bothered?

Scott Laughton was garbage once again. Probably Max Domi's most impactful game. Matthews utterly useless again. If the guy is injured put him on the injured reserve already. Sick of seeing this team playing toothless hockey, especially against the short handed Panthers (with all their injuries). Joke of a team.

Kerfoot would be offended. He's limited offensively, but he's willing to engage physically.

This. I couldn't believe I actually watched the whole thing. We have seen the exact same sad movie for so many times.
The time for this core is coming to an end if that is what we get from 16 and 34 in the playoffs.

These two teams are destined to play a 7 game series in the second round this year.
A healthy Panthers team will dispose of this team in 5 or 6.

We lost, yet again, to a true contender (defending champs).
Colour me surprised.

One day the head honchos of this franchise will acknowledge that we need to shake things up.
Untill that day, we will continue to dwell in the worst kind of hell. Too good to miss the PO, too bad to have a go at the Cup.
Stuck in neutral.
