Devils discussion (news, notes and speculation) - part V

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

You went from talking about overall goals and now it's a 5v5 issue......., choose a side
if you want compare him to other guys on the team that don't get the PP time like he does it makes sense to look at 5v5...

Like you've attacked Mercer a few times...this year and last he has 26 5v5 goals ...

Meier this year and last has 26 5v5 goals ...

Bratt this year and last has 27 5v5 goals.

Edit: who's the problem as far as goal scoring in this picture?

Pavel Dorofeyev has the most goals of any winger on the Golden Knights. Does that now mean that Mark Stone Isn't an elite player because a role player is scoring more goals on the wing?
Stone was injured and missed about 15 games this season.

Dorofeyev is outpacing him in goalscoring. And outside of this year, Bratt has outpaced Stone in goalscoring the 3 years previous. Are you willing to say Mark Stone isn't an elite player because of his lack of goalscoring?

In the past 4 seasons:

Jesper Bratt has 68 5v5 goals

Timo Meier has 68 5v5 goals

Brady Tkachuk has 68 5v5 goals.

Jesus Christ, Bratt in on pace for 23 goals, a whopping 4 goals less than last year, and 6 goals less than his average over the previous 2 seasons. Move on to some other dumb argument where the goalposts will be shifted just so you can bitch about whoever is on your shit list that week.

This is silly. Stone had career threatening injury 3 years ago...he played 43 games in 2023, 56 in 2024 and he was injured again this year against Dallas and has only played 51 of the teams 65...

None of this makes sense.

I feel the need to continue to clarify... I'm saying BOTH Bratt and Meier are the main problems with our goal scoring.

Not just Bratt... and if you want to remove the names to protect the players ...goal scoring from our top 6 wingers is what I'm complaining about. It's abysmal.

Just for clarification

4 seasons ago Meier wasn't a New Jersey Devil....and Brady Tkachuk was still on his ELC....you come up with some doozy comparisons.

Bratt scored more goals per game and more goals per 60 than Stone. These are rate metrics which takes into account missed games. Bratt has been a better goal scorer than Stone the past 4 seasons.

Tkachuk is one year younger than Bratt. They have the same amount of goals 5v5 in the past 4 seasons with Tkachuk playing only 2 less games over that span. You've referenced Tkachuk multiple times as the type of goal scoring winger the Devils lack, yet he's scoring at similar rates 5v5 to the two players you continually complain about. How you can't see that comparison making sense is beyond me.

Am I the only one who thinks that both Glass and Dumoulin could give this hockey club something it needs in terms of some correct slotted players?

Like glass a lot and he could continue to grow with this group and now you suddenly got yourself a good 3C.

Give Casey a year more in the ahl and keep Nemec with the current squad.

Devils hockey the last few days ^^^^

You can also by this portrait on the Fanatics website 😂 They have one for every team though so it's not some exclusive Devils merch but still a funny picture none the less haha

They're both perfectly fine depth players that filled needs. I'm still cautious on Glass because we've seen guys look really good in the beginning and then come back down to earth after a while before. But he has produced in the past, and I'm not going to hold his time on a bad Pittsburgh team against him, so maybe he can be a longer term answer at #3C, or even just a solid #4C.
