Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose to Canucks 3-0

Yea, they can't so they shouldn't take up almost half the cap. There is no money left for good players in the bottom 6.

Having more money doesn’t mean you get a better bottom six. It means you just overpay shittier players. Look at the cap hits of the best teams in the leagues bottom six. No different than the leafs. The difference? Those players play a certain way that’s conducive to winning and sustained success. The drive the net all the damn time. Toronto’s pro scouting staff have done a terrible job of identifying good players. We are paying Max Domi what? 3.5 or 4 mill, instead of getting a Nick Paul type for the same amount of money.

Inexcusable effort. It looked like we were the ones who played 4 in 6 and last night. Hildeby really is an AHL goalie at this point. Difference in this game was our inept PP. Hardly shot at the net. Rielly just sucks so bad at the point.
He can't shoot on the pp but they use him because his specialty is rushing lumbering the puck up ice at half-speed to do the obvious drop off to another guy who's barely skating. It's a unique skill that's hard to replace and part of Savard's genius to bring it back, only slow it down a little.

Because of the outcome, a serious question; can anyone tell me how to switch from this white background to the dark one I was using before the change to this new format? Thanks.

Rielly is a log jam on this teams D. He should not be on PP1 and is a huge liability right now.

Whole D needs to score too.

Yes, but teams pay special attention to the top six because they know the bottom six won’t score. If you had a useful bottom six, you’d have other teams spread their top defensive players ice time throughout the lineup and create more easy matchups for the top six
I get that, but again at the end of the day its up to your best players to produce no matter what adversity they face. McDavid and Leon keep leading their teams in scoring most games. MacKinnon and Rattanen. Kuch and Point etc.

We need our best guys to be our best guys in most games and not get shutdown for mulitple games at a time.

But the D isn't composed to be a scoring threat. It's not Berube hockey. If these team is to be offensive it'll come from the forwards

I said after the second win over Philly (Toronto's fifth straight win) that I didn't like how the Leafs were playing, and that didn't go over too well.

This has to be the most frustrating Leafs team in a while. This team really struggles to create offense at times and has difficulty maintaining possession in the attacking zone and doesn't control the play that well.

In past years, the Leafs were generally good for some blowout wins that were fun to watch, but this season they seem to have a hard time in one form or another against every team they face. I don't know... if they can win their division, they might win a round. But I'm not too optimistic they'll go deep.
Going deep is not realistic unless they catch a lot of breaks. I think management knows this

Too many useless players in the bottom six. No ability to produce energy. No B game.
Too many overrated and overpaid players in the top 6 !!!

Yep, let's give Marner a raise too. Our core players are not paid enough to SHOW UP to play good hockey on a regular basis.

5 wins in a row was enough for these losers. Now, Leafs Nation deserves a few losses in a row !!!

f*** you Pelley, Shanahan, Treliving, and yes, Berube !!!

He needs to adapt too. Berube riding Rielly on PP1 is not helping matters at all.

It might be hard to accept but our players are passengers and not drivers. Every team needs passengers but if you don’t have any drivers you don’t get any where.

No the leafs played to vasi’s weakness. That year Vasi was one of the worst goalies at making saves when he was screened and against shots from the point. They applied that strategy and beat him. He wasn’t hurt.
I told everyone he had a weak blocker, but it was rally bad that series. If he was just decent TB would have won that series. The Leafs lack of skill was evident throughout and was realised the week following that series.

People love this low event style the Leafs want to play. Tonight was a perfect example of why it's not all perfect and probably won't lead us to anything

When you play games that are always close you increase the chance for stupid bounces to be the difference. That's what happened tonight. Vancouver gets 2 lucky bounces and the low event hockey ensures the Leafs struggle to generate much of anything to overcome the bounces

Bro what games were you watching?

Lack of skill was not the issue for the leafs that year. It was a lack of attention to detail and really bad turnovers that Florida capitalized on. It was Keefe putting Marner and Matthews back together instead of keeping them separated like he did against Tampa.

He under utilized Ryan O’Reilly against Florida who was a beast against Tampa. Why he took Marner away from O’Reilly beats me and why O’Reilly was never used on PP1 is beyond me and it’s why O’Reilly left.

They have revamped the bottom 6 every year for the last 7, had 3 coaches, 2 GM’s and multiple assistants and still the same dam results. Please tell me again that it’s not the common denominator…….the core 5 and oh ya that we should give Marner 13 plus.

Our record is flattering considering our play for the last month+

If things don't change in how we play we're due for some major regression. Only hope is that instance is Woll/Stolarz continue to put up .920s all season (This is possible tbh)
