So, is Sandin not our saviour on the PP?
I'd love to see for sure but for some reason we had the brilliant idea of sticking Joe Thornton on the 1st unit for some inexplicable reason.

We always knew the shity power play was going to cost games in the playoffs. No idea how they let it drag on this long.

Still, very winnable game but for some reason the players just don't grab the opportunity. Pretty gutless to watch your captain get stretchered off and then lose to the worst team in the playoffs.

The way the Leafs played looks like Game 6 of the Columbus series. The whole season was a ramp up to this moment and I don’t think they passed the test.

At times it looked like Montreal was the team avenging the loss of Tavares the way they were battling. Matthews was silenced and didn’t elevate like a Mackinnon. Marner couldn’t come through like a Point.

Three delay of game penalties with our skill guys throwing the puck over the glass under pressure.

On the PP two Habs pushed around Hyman and threw him to the ice and stood over him with zero defense from his teammates.

This is game one but these are not good signs.

Thornton was making bad plays on the PP all game and Manny still uses him late in the game!

Not happy with some of of the comments Habs and Isles fans have been making about Tavares. Very very disgusting.
I had to drop off social media... Corey Perry never gets the benefit of the doubt.. Paul Byron..yes.. Perry..no. Notice the barrel roll Neymar dive after he makes contact. Did not try to jump...leaves the leg down...i don't think he wanted to knock him out but Perry always wants to make contact. Look at his history.

How can you call yourself a contender with all the talent on the PP (even without Tavares), and give up a SHG in a tie game with 8 minutes left in the third period.

I feel bad for Tavares. Way to get him the win.

Ha, well noted. They boys really came out and did it for him.

Thornton is fine in 4th line ONLY role, anything else is beyond his capabilties at this stage. Nash brought nothing, but 1st game in a while and he wasn't a negative. Foligno was not impactful nor was Simmonds.

I dunno what to say, I saw nothing that makes me think we win this series...

Same as usual, big paid guys invisible in the playoffs. Can score in the regular season, but play like dog shit in the playoffs.

The haters say the Leafs choke, sadly, they are SO right. This team is a f***ing joke.
Not sure what game you watched but Matthews and Marner were very visible to me. Just cuz they didn’t get on the score sheet doesn’t mean they were invisible.

I have to imagine Galchenyuk is back in. Maybe facing the Habs will spark him. This was a one-sided game until Tavares was taken out, then the wheels fell off. Time to regroup.

I'm not concerned about the game. Just hope Tavares is okay. Only thing I can think about.

Boy Marner really loves playing playoff hockey. Games get tight and he can't be found.

After they lose this series he is the 1st guy I would deal to shake up the team and give them flexibility. He is simply not a playoff player.

Big mistake playing Sandin and he was beaten on both Montreal goals.

That is one reason Montreal didn't play their kids in hopes of eliminating rookie mistakes.

Have to give the Leafs a pass otherwise despite playing down to the level of their competition because of the impact the Tavares injury may have played. Those 3 over the glass penalties however particularly by skilled played like Marner and Nylander are not really excusable as those could also be difference makers in other games.

But SImmonds in ? Mikaheyev in ?

Those guys both sucked. At least Joe will make a pass here and there.
Joe is not the problem, it's his usage. that's on the coach

Simmonds is done

I mostly agree with you on Simmonds but he was much better than Thornton tonight. While he didn’t impose himself physically, he actually made some smart plays and wasn’t much of a liability. Thornton is a massive liability. His passing is awful and kills many plays.

I thought Mikheyev would have more of presence tonight and I think he has more to give. Thornton flat out sucks.
