You and I don’t agree on much but we agree here...no need for that answer I’m gonna chalk it up to simmering anger on the posters part that is leftover from the game last night

Perhaps. Personally I think it’s better to just not post in the opposing team’s PGT after they’ve lost, well intentioned or not.

I thought that the first goal was Sandin's fault not Thornton.

How do you blame sandin .
Thornton tried to make an illadvisde pass at the blue line.
Anderson the freight train gets the puck at full speed and scores.
What was sandin supposed to do.

People would just have a different name to blame if we did that. As it is, they will blame Thornton or Simmonds or anything else for the loss. Campbell is the savior to Andersen but for how long.

Truth is Matthews and Marner need to start going Crosby/Malkin, Toews/Kane or even Point/Kucherov for this team.
I was more referring to the butterfly effect. Leafs would still have Tavares and Thornton wouldn’t have cost them.

Agreed though, Marner and Matthews have to be much better.

kudos to Nylander for finally throwing his first career hit.

I just finished watching the game. Have not got the energy to read the 31 pages of responses. But this team keeps taking stabs at my heart.

There is no doubt in my mind that Perry intentionally made contact with John Tavares. He probably did not set out to potentially end his career, but making contact at every possibility does fit his modus operandi. I hope he by accident gets blinded at some point so he will have to spent his millions earned during a dirty, but successful career paying for guide dogs.

Hopefully Tavares will recover. What a sad start to what should be a fun time of the year. Hopefully the boys will recompose themselves and fight back into the series.
Give your head a shake. How anyone could avoid that hit at that game speed is unimaginable. There was no way to avoid that and you really are clouded by emotion right now.

The problem is even if we get great contributions from that Matthews line where's the rest of the help scoring coming from?

Nylander was awesome but without Tavares he's got limited talent to work with, the bottom 6 is pretty anemic and the PP is an abomination

I think Chucky needs to come into the lineup, Spezza needs to get more minutes and offensive opportunities and somebody needs to work out WTF is going on with the PP, it's a god damned disgrace
Matthews showed a lot of heart and desire. Now way he doesnt light it up soon

This is all on Keefe..yeah lets make Nash play and dump Galchenyuk who worked his ass an entire season..i dont like this forward lines at all
I agree with you. This is what has bothered me the most in the last week. Keefe pulled the "best line on paper" maneuver. Galchenyuk has worked so hard since coming here and was getting hot again toward the end of the regular season. Ditto Engvall. Nash should have been slowly integrated on the 4th line after an injury or to replace a slumping player (Thornton). Do not mess with past chemistry at the start of the playoffs.

Keefe and Dubas need to grow a set of big ones! Enough of this Gud pro stuff. Thorton and Simmons have no reason being in the lineup, during the playoffs, especially after Dubas going all in at the deadline. Geez if Keefe doesn't realise that Thornton was on the ice for the goals against, then he shouldn't be behind the bench.

Some good teams were down 1 zip and are now leading. Vegas, Boston, and Pittsburgh. We'll see what happens. Saturday is a must win.

Even last year’s mess of a team came out and looked great against CLB in game 2.

Winning Saturday is a bare minimum requirement, but it can’t erase what happened last night. They’ve gone and frittered away home ice advantage, whatever that’s worth.

But first things first.

agreed, I think they will play better tomorrow. The Star’s of this team are very emotional, it’s not a bad thing, probably has more to do with their age than anything. But they looked very shook last night. However, they also hit three posts last night, so they were right there

Feels like this team is just cursed .. Losing key players in the last 4 series: JT, Muzzin, and Kadri twice.

Its part of playoff hockey, some teams "lose" players but they still play. Yzerman a decade ago or so played on 2 knees that needed surgery. Hyman a few years ago played with a ACL/MCL tear (?) Winning the cup is not just about what you do on the ice but how you handle mentally taxing events off the ice. There is a reason why they say this is the toughest trophy to win in any sport in the entire world. If it were easy we would have a shelf full of trophies.

If you are a Leaf player you can 1) Sit around for the next week, pout and fret over JT's condition 2) Seek retribution and lose focus on the goal 3) Shake it off and do what JT would want you to do, win a few rounds so he can get back on the ice with the team.

The reason why we got Jumbo, Simmonds, Spez is exactly for this type of situation, leadership in the room when shit goes bad. I'm going to measure Jumbo by how this team responds next game, not what he does on the ice, the on ice product best before date has passed.

We got 3 former Captains Foligno, Spezza (?), Jumbo, multiple former or present "A"'s this team has more than enough leadership, time to dig in and do what they work for their entire lives.

The best way to stop a bully is to punch him in the face. Andersen should never touch the puck for more than 2 seconds before a Leaf hits him, He is a big quick man, that needs to be slowed down, he was by far the best player on the ice last night. If I'm Simmonds, I know I'm pretty much useless at this point, I have my size and my speed, Simmonds needs to focus on hitting and defending, nothing more. If I'm Simmonds I'm picking a few people like Andersen and I'm hitting to hurt them. If I'm Foligno, I'm hitting to hurt, if I'm Joe I'm hitting to hurt. the hands might be gone but the size is not.

Not to get too all Leaf fan excited over board but the Habs wanted last night more than the Leafs. they were willing to do the work to win.

My post from Wednesday:

I would definitely have Galchenyuk in over Thornton.

Also not really sure about having Nash as our #3 center. No idea how good he'll be... but my worry is that he's not up to speed having missed so much time and being thrown directly into a playoff game. I would have gone with Brooks or even Engvall.
