Refs were horrendous tonight - not an over exaggeration to suggest the Leafs had two FULL 5on3s ignored by the refs.

Not going to win many games with execution like that imo. Thought the effort was there all game, good battle, but on the wrong side of the puck all too often. Too many turnovers blueline-to-blueline; their counterattack is better than ours right now.

Centres were good down low, but had no help otherwise.

It felt like another game where you need a goal and are generating next to nothing... a-la-playoffs past; lucky bounce to tie it.

Murray was real good!

As soon as the puck was dropped in OT, this one was over, boy do we suck in 3-on-3 play.

Not to mention Luke Hughes, Nemec and Holtz not even playing yet. The depth of the defense will be one of the best in modern history.

Almost 20 games into the season and here’s what I think our biggest needs for improvement are:

Top 6 LW
Bottom 6 Winger, maybe 2
Top 4 Dman

We need to address at least one of these before the deadline, and probably another one on deadline day

We’ve lost our transition ability. Breakouts are messy. Rushes involve very little drive to the net. There’s no bite. Very little sense of urgency. NJ was absolutely relentless tonight. We aren’t seeing that from this team.

Calls were both way. How often are two penalties called simultaneously? Both teams got away with a few.

Marner and Tavares are too slow to play together 3 on 3.... They were too slow to play together in the playoffs a few years ago and kept getting caught from behind by backcheckers.

All this money on 4 forwards and the only players I am confident on the ice 3 on 3 Matthews and Nylander. Beyond those players (because of our cap) the 3rd and 4th have literally no scoring threats. And Keefe won't play Robertson.

When Kerfoot had an open lane to the net and sent a 10 ft backhand off to a guy that was completely covered, that was my last hope of him ever scoring again.

I'll take the point, not a ton to hate about that one.

However, we are brutal 3 on 3. I would've started with Nylander + Matthews, but not like anyone has been good 3 on 3 so far this year.

I'm impressed with the Devils. There's a team that's clicking and playing at the top of their game.

At this point in the season, I would gladly swap rosters with the NJD!!!

An 11 game winning streak is exactly what I have expected from our Leafs for a couple of seasons, especially with the contracts our 'star' players demanded and received!

Again, other NHL teams are making a mockery of our overpaid and over rated Leafs.

Watch the Sabres do the same on Saturday night.
