Been taking a break since Dubas has been year and let me tell it was well worth it

lol ok.... what has made it "well worth it"

Sounds like you've missed watching some of the best Leaf players in franchise history for no reason at all.

It sucks to be a Leaf’s fan. If it isn’t bad reffing, it’s boneheaded plays by depth players like Kerfoot and Simmonds. If it isn’t questionable coaching, it’s plain old bad luck.

This one hurt more than last year cause we really had it in Game 6. Last year I was angrier so it didn’t hurt as much.

But hey, the sun is up, we have the best player in the world and one of the best passers. I’ll be interested to see what kind of changes we make.

seriously

i wish leafs could draw one of these teams
Oh please, they've already had their weak opponents in Montreal and Columbus and look how that turned out. They'd find a way to lose to Dallas and LA too.

They had the easiest route to the cup theyre ever gunna have last year, and just like everything else they squandered it

Does that actually matter if they don't do anything in the playoffs? For me I could care less about individuals success and more about the team winning. They can score 2 goals per game for all I care as long as they win

That's a hard one to take, because we didn't get beat - we got robbed. Can't even be mad at anybody on the team after that.

Played our hearts out all season, blew past franchise records and hit a mark that's only been hit 15 times in the cap era. Our reward? Playing the B2B Cup champs - an ECF matchup - in the 1st round. Whatever, you take the hand you're dealt. So we play our hearts out in the series, outwork and outplay them, and the refs decide to steal both game 6 and game 7 away from us with some of the worst calls I've seen in my life as a hockey fan. The infamous Fraser high stick is a joke compared to the past 2 games.

Like at this point it feels like we have to have the best team in the league by far just to overcome the divisional playoff format and reffing and make it past the first round. This honestly feels more and more like the WWE as each year goes by. We're not supposed to win, so we won't win, until the NHL decides it's a good narrative. Or maybe when the NHL doesn't have a battle of Florida to milk.

In the words of Bo Burnham... It's not right. It's not funny. But they'll keep beating this dead horse until it stops spitting out money.

I can't quit the Leafs, but I'm done spending any money on this league. It's broken.

I'm concerned that we're going to blow up the best team we've ever had because of this garbage. Hopefully management is smart enough to tune out all the idiots who will pressure counter-productive moves because blah blah blah 1st round.

If the best team we have can’t win a round in the playoffs, than I think you’re beyond help

This was their best chance. Next year AM will be looking forward to getting out this place.
I'm torn on this. On one hand, I think AM bolts to a big market American city. Somewhere in California, Vegas, or the northeast.

On the other, in Toronto he's got a GM that he knows he can bend over in negotiations and a team and fanbase that will coddle him no matter how little playoff success he has. Because scoring 60 in the regular season and going to hangout with Bieber is all that matters

You cannot compare the two. We just had to play the back to back cup champs round 1, they got to play a young team making the playoffs for the first time in years, lmfao.
I will agree that they had an easier opponent. Where the difference was, is how they played game 7. I watched the Leaf game and the Oilers game. Night and day in how each team played. The Oilers were all over the Kings from the first minute. The Leafs didn't do that til the 3rd period.

Well vasi never got a shutout. But the 3 goal streak ended.

This is the worst possible outcome now. Because what do we do?

How can you Keep a team that has lost 6 straight round 1

How can you blow up a team that has taken multiple cup winners and the defending champs to 7?

Outside of the bubble (which was a disaster year)
We have lost to
Washington. Won the cup the next year
Boston. Same team got to the cup final game 7
Montreal. Caught lightning in a bottle and got to the finals.

The back to back cup champs?

There is no clear path here. I don’t think Jack is good enough t beat price or vasi.

But he didn’t cost them either series.
If we lost bad due to him it’s easy. Put it all out there to get a stud G

Now do we go back to Campbell? What do you pay?

I really don’t know what to do. If the core had missed 3 playoffs. It would be growing pains.

How do you blow up a 115 pt team that was probably better than the champs?
How do you come back with the same?

I wouldn't give up on the league. I agree that the playoff format is flawed, after finishing 5th best team in the league you should be playing one of the weaker teams to make the playoffs, not the 2 time defending champions in the 1st round. I think that eventually the NHL will go back to the NBA format. Don't give up yet.

This was truely the least surprising outcome. Anything and everything blew up in their faces, yet again. Losers lose, winners win.

Dubas, when some ass clown scrub like Mikheyev asks for a trade, you drive his ass to the bus stop yourself. Mentally it means the player has moved on and forcing them to stay just means you'll get uninspired performances. In a nut shell this is the problem, trying to make people be something they are not by force feeding them cash. Tavares was never worth 11m and only a complete moron would think he was.

This team gives us fans absolutely nothing. 60 goals? Who cares, just more evidence of another wasted year.

My only regret is not betting more money against these losers.

When teams are more evenly matched, the game is more evenly played

Great team great effort. Wish the higher ups would pot the same amount of pressure on the media and NHHL/PA part. Cut money and support. Harm anti Toronto allegiances like the zebra faction.
Let them earn their money with Florida or Texas Batman interests. Funny how Canadian money is cheap yet needed.

Let those poor American teams pay. And please ... please exclude GTA players from Toronto events while they are enjoying their golfing habitats in the sunny south. Might as well call them Trump Canadians. Go - go Steven Stamkos ... you sure were the reason for winning gold in 2010, you hang-along. Like the Toronto area - I DONT LIKE YOU. BIGOT.
What the f....?

Format isn't ideal, but it isn't ridiculous.

That 5on3 call and the two key penalty choices in the second period were certainly something though

The officiating was bad for both sides the entire series, it did seem worse for Toronto but that just could be my bias talking. What was more surprising was the total shift in the standard for games 1,2,3,4,5 to the last two.

half of toronto media is a dubasite not a leafs fan.

Mirtle, Seigel, Johnston, Alter, etc... you name it. Especially teh Athletic guys because those asshats monetize their fake narratives based on stupid stats per 60 and dubas is a poster child for that
Yup. Same for a good portion of the fanbase too. These jackasses had the audacity to call me a troll and a fake fan because I predicted another playoff L and refused to worship their nerdy god.

I can't see Jack getting Mraz money at this point, so I expect him back.

I figure we'll tinker the middle tier, move out a D and promote some youth. An injection of youth may be a good thing for us
