Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose in Game 7. Again.

And health wise, this is the healthiest they've been in the playoffs in a while. When they lost to CBJ, Hedman was injured. The next year, Stamkos. Last year Kucherov came back but played through an injury.

What I'm saying is don't live in fear of the Lightning. The Lightning won 2 cups building around the same core that was dropped by CBJ.

Ovi didn't even start playing defense until Trotz showed up. Matthews is well ahead of him in that respect.

Keep in mind Ovi didn't even make the playoffs until 22. Matthews has been there since 19.

They just can’t get it done.

I'm just some kid from mimico who grew up in the 90's idolizing guys like Clark and Gilmour but those guys would have gotten it done. This shit is embarrassing. The players should feel shame. I feel bad for a guy like Spezza who you know played his heart out. If only the rest of the team were like him mentally.

Oh wow….Matthews got 14 more days of hockey

Ovi consistently made it out of the first round and was almost never the reason the caps post

Matthews has already had 2 complete no shows and one series doesn’t change that

Lol. Sorry, that's just a funny line.

I'm not terribly impressed with 2nd round exists, if that's your goal. We had plenty of those during the Sundin years and it wasn't great.

If Matthews gives us more performances like this year…then fine

But I’m still not convinced he has “figured” out playoff hockey. Neither am I convinced by mitch
 
This is hell!!! I am so rattled BUT some of you are so fickle and reactionary with your comments. Take a breathe and calm down. Tampa blocked everything when Point went out. We or Campbell have a really tough time stopping shots or chances off the rush for whatever reason. It's horrible, it pains me to no end BUT we battled harder against a better opponent and the result is still the same.

We lost against a team that has won the last two cups and it's FIRE EVERYTHING. That will not do ANYTHING. We got jobbed games 6 and 7 a bit IMO. I know this is a poor comment but COVID screwed Dubas I'm not sure why we can't use that as a bit of a cushion for him. The cab this year was suppose to be 88 M. I remember being so happy about that announcement, then a month later COVID happens.

Excuses are for losers, yes but this type of stuff is so LEAFY it's wild.

Refs? We had 4 power plays…scored none

Better opponent? Habs bested the “better” opponent last year. Can we not do the same?

Ovi also made it past the 2nd round just once, when they won the Cup. Matthews was not the problem this year IMO.
 
Marner and Matthews can't provide the level of killer instinct that's needed for the playoffs, they can provide a lot of entertainment for the 82 regular season games so either they need to go or we(the fans) need to be satisfied with what they can do.

I might be wrong but TO's ability to score in the playoffs was again challenged and again TO couldn't surmount the challenge, TO needed a 3rd line center basically all year, we were given Kampf a perfectly good 4th line center, TO's scoring depth needed to be addressed but again adding defensive depth was prioritized, TO's PP going into the playoffs was sputtering again and again wasn't properly rectified.

For some reason TO's management prefers TO loses in the playoffs, in crucial games by close scores, so continually adding defensive depth enables history to constantly repeat itself.

I'm certain nothing will be learned by the these last 6 years and we should expect the same again next year.

This was the best they looked yet, but yeah, I hope there's more improvement to come.

You are correct, Tampa won because their grinders played well.

But our top players don't do the cutesy plays for swag - they do them because they are effective. This is how our top players play. We live and die by that sword.
 
Sucks, I was cheering for you to beat them. But I don’t think you should beat yourselves up too much this year. You played a strong series against a better team. Just bad luck that despite the fantastic regular season you end up playing the Cup favorites.

Barrie got the winner last game as well. But youre right I can't believe how good ceci has been for us. I hated the singing and he's been great.

As for Hyman he's made the entire fan base forget about Taylor Hall.

2. We have lost 6 series. WSH, BOS x 2, CBJ, MTL, TBL. WSH and BOS were under Lou.

We have looked better in the last 4 series (in general and relative to the other team), but obviously, same result.
