I know we lost, again, but the boys battled hard and hung right in there even when situations could have taken over their heads. No doubt about this series being equally or IMO tougher mentally than any of the previous ones and they coped admirably and maintained their focus. That's a step forward, an important one.

I'm disappointed but at the same time i'm proud of them.

I have to say it again, the one thing that really disappoints me is that with Point going down I really thought this was going to be a huge opportunity for them, that to me does tell me these guys have mental blocks preventing them. They should have been able to skate these guys to the ground the way they did in game 5 and most of game 6.

They could very easily end up facing Tampa again next year.

This time with Point and Kucherov likely firing on all cylinders. I don't see how any reasonable GM could think of running it back with the same guys.

And no, this doesn't mean changing a few fringe pieces and promoting prospects.

They have to be realistic and make bigger changes or this will be an even bigger loss next season.

I don’t want any decisions being made based on emotions.

We need someone to make TOUGH, smart decisions about this team.

Something has to change, and that’s up to the management that gets paid to figure it out.

If there was ever discussions before but there was reluctancy, now is the time to take a big step back and analyze what exactly needs to be done about the entire team, coaching included.

This is the final straw.

Just finished watching the Edmonton-LA game and wow, were the Oilers impressive. They basically told the Kings "No way you're winning this game tonight." They attacked, constantly, Aggressive on the forecheck, flying all night. The only reason the score wasn't higher was Quick.

They had that killer instinct, and then some.

Toronto tonight played basically a regular season-style game. Tampa responded by crowding the front of the net and not letting shots get through. So the Leafs did what they always do: Just kept shooting from outside hoping something would go in.

No killer instinct, again.

I'm not sure if it's a personnel problem or a coaching problem, or both. But they are simply too easy to defend against if they're unwilling to go to the tough areas and simply impose their will. All Toronto players, the coaching staff, Dubas and Shanny should watch that Oilers game tonight together and see what a team that wants it plays like.

Fans getting mad cause a team lost a 7 game series against the back to back stanley cup champs.

lmao.

you folks are something. A special type.
Dubas Fans ignoring the leafs losing for a 6th straight time in the 1st round with this being the 3rd time in 4 years the leafs are up 3-2 and fail to close out a series

Lmao

You "fans" are something. A special type

yea but oilers have mcdavid. nobody on the leafs is close to that.

A lack of killer instinct has plagued them before and it plagues them still.

You can't instill a killer instinct simply by speaking it intro existence either.

The young core learned the hard way tonight that you can bring 100% in a Game 7 and still come out the losing end. Seemed like there was belief in the room that if they just brought it all they would be rewarded. The inexplicable no shows vs Columbus and Montreal must haunt them knowing what they know now. Hope they don't have to be Spezza age to learn how a career can go by so fast with no playoff success to show for.

I agree with this dude. Keefe has to be gone.

I said this after game 4 and there was loads of posters talking about how "a 2-2 series is great against the defending champs"

That is a losing attitude. You should not be satisfied with a 2-2 series, you should be hungry to make it 3-1.

Keefe had that comment and also said we got more "respect" in the handshake line this year. Straight losing attitude and it's pathetic. Get rid of him and hire Trotz

For the offence first guy, his teams periodically fail to show up offensively in game 7. We scored 1 goal tonight. one goal!

(sure add JT's goal too if you like thats still not enough!)
We scored 2 goals. 1 didnt count (stupid call, I dont care).

Game 7's are tight.

We scored at least 3 goals in every other friggin game against the best goalie on earth. offense is fine.

I think we need Trotz. An opportunity like this doesn’t come often. This could be our Raptors moment before winning the big one.
The teams that have won in recent years, the Lighting, and the Caps had big-time playoff failures after amazing seasons before they won the cup. Toronto is too talented to not win one. I agree that bringing Trotz in could be the final piece of the puzzle.

Getting sick of the excuses every year. How many "snipes" did Matthews have this series?
