This team is gonna break through. It’s hard to take right now. I tossed my jersey on the buzzer, it’ll stay there a few days. Went for a walk. Msg’d with a bunch of friends, including a Bruins fan that believes we have it. No one knows. This is a really good team. I just don’t know.

Now in my backyard having a little fire in my bowl. What else to do? It hurts less then last year? 1 goal. And you lose. I think we’d have beaten anyone but tb out of the east
There's some things thay just don't reconcil in this series for me, namely officiating, but even how we've lost some of these games in OT is just bizarre
JT said in the presser that the belief is still strong in the team.

These guys will believe anything.
Did you think he'd say they have lost faith in each other?

You're one year away. Next year will be your year. I believe.

The way these things work. Leafs aren't going to win a series and that's it. When they win a series, they'll make it all the way to the finals. Next year is the year. So many good steps this year to come even closer than ever before. Trading Dermott and acquiring Lyubushkin was a great move on Dubas' part. And he's been improving the team every year and it will pay off.

Items for this offseason are really simple. Get someone like Lyubushkin but who can play 20 minutes a game. And maybe even resign Lyubushkin as well, because Giordano might (I think should) go. I said before the playoffs that I think the Leafs get closer every year and I said I didn't think they were ready this year but I think they're ready for next year. Upgrade Giordano, keep Lyubushkin, and you've got a cup contender.

Every year but 2019 and this year we played the team we would have pre realignment. 2019 we get run by the pens anyways

We also played the 18 seed in the NHL and the 9 seed in the East

We don't get the tough match up excuse in the one year we get a tough match up

Tampa also lost an all star mid game 7 and vasy was pretty ass for 6 games

I just want the 1 vs 8 and so on. I liked it better when the higher you placed the easier a matchup was.

But yes we did have some easier matchups that we blew as well.

Yea, but again, how will that be different? They won't win with this core and guys who make the league min.

I just don't think we're far away. Bring in Trotz, bring in Knies and Robertson. Find another gem like Bunting/Kampf. Maybe trade a 1st for a good, cheap effective guy. Expected improvement from Sandin/Lil. We're not far.

And how do you know that? Last year against MTL, blew that. 2020 against CBJ and their rookie goalies, f***ed that up. Should have won those series, I don't know what to tell ya. I want to see major changes on the ice. They had their shots, and f***ed them up royally.
Oh I don’t know that SunT, and good o see you, always glad to see an OG. If I approached it rationally I’d be a TBL fan. The recent example is the OV Caps I guess. The core is silly good and I think we’ll get there. Not to say I’m not a mess. Somehow not as bad as las t year. f***ing low standard.

I’m going to be putting up several units of my bankroll on the Panthers and I dont think they are that good. Point appears to be hobbled and that doesn’t go away in a couple of days. That’s the series tipper.
Big question for me is whether they're already in Florida's head.

Florida can score, but they didn't look good vs a bad Washington team..

Lol. It’s the idea - go against good teams and find ways to win. There are no bad teams in po. I don’t want to hear this stuff that there is this team or that team that is stronger. Go and get them and earn respect that way.

There are definitely mediocre teams in the playoffs. You can see 2 of them on CBC right now.

silly good at losing

still both are still there unlike the leafs

You're delusional if you didn't notice him all over the puck all night.
He created a bunch of chances, got robbed at least once, had an assist, was physical.
The first line was great.
The 2nd line was terrible.
The 3rd line was a liability.
The 4th line should have moved up 2 lines.

Engvall, Mikheyev, Kerfoot, were horrendous.
I agree with your entire post. I was there tonight. Matthews was not the problem.

Isn't that still an indictment on Dubie? How is Florida ahead of us? How is Carolina ahead of us? Seems like Toronto is not close to being a true SC contender then.

Floriday from last year picked up Bennett for a 2nd rounder. We gave up 1st for Nick FFFINNG Foligno
Who has been a great player for them. Physical tough mofo and gets you goals

Montour for a 3rd round pick who btw this year has 37 points

They picked up Girioux this year. 18 games 23 points. 6 games 7 points and clutch plays last game

We get Gio. Who has been decent but that's it
Boosh has been a flop
Blackwell, seems ok
Nik Foligno

That may shed some light into your thoughts

We also need less perimeter offence. Need a couple guys who can play inside the faceoff dots in the offensive zone and generate, consistently.

Tampa exposed this roster for being a perimeter team in game 7, and it was ugly.

Easier said than done. If there was a clear standard, then absolutely.

When the other team can commit various infractions in front of their own net, then it becomes a lot more difficult. We had guys break their sticks crosschecking our guys in front of their net (not in this series, but in the MTL series more so). There were holds and things that would classify as interference a lot more than that call on Holl. Bunting was driven into the boards by the numbers 3 times this game (that I counted) and none of them were called.

Those penalties are designed to make it more difficult to stop someone, but it is often weaponized based on how the refs feel. We haven't been able to commit the same infractions freely. If whistles are going away, then put the whistles away. It would have been a 2-2 game, and maybe we are celebrating right now.

The difference between our stars and mcdavid is that goal right there.

When has Matthews decided that he was going to bully and entire team and get a crucial goal

You can't compare LA to Tampa. Quick looks like a child compared to Vasilevsky.

As the family grows older, I also realize that despite my desire to share the experience with my kids, I should not be around humans in general in a Leaf g7 situation

yea i prefer watching elimination games by myself. doesn't help that my friends all like the raptors and/or hate the leafs.

it's well known that they will lose and choke, so why not just do it solo.

Big player making big plays while Matthews gets bent over by Nick Paul

Oilers. McDavid. 2-0. This is how you play at home in game 7.

Can't compare the situations.

Tampa blocked like 30+ shots and competed until the buzzer.
The Kings stopped skating while McDavid came in on his own, circled the net, got his own rebound and scored. Completely unimpeded.

If Tampa had made that kind of effort, Toronto puts 5+ goals behind the goalie.
