He was useless in the other 3 and didn’t do anything notable today either

Tavares also had a very similar situation

Our stats either had amazing games or terrible games

We needed game 7 to be a game where they all showed up where it mattered and they did not

He is talented, but you can’t win when a few guys don’t pull their weight.

Engvall is another one that you don’t even attempt to bring back. He treats the puck like it’s a hand grenade and useless in a playoff game.

Engvall isnt a cap problem I’d argue Nylander does pull his weight as much or more than anyone on the team. He is without a doubt flawed and often frustrating but his cap hit strikes me as about exactly his value. He’s secondary the same way Kassel was to Sid and Malkin but at times able to elevate to elite level. He can’t carry or inspire a team but he can sure as hell contribute, again15 points in his last 14 playoff games.

Well, much to the disdain of the same burn it all down crowd, Kadri was almost universally reviled for taking a stupid penalty.

Some of us said it was appropriate and that the refs seemed to be calling a different game for the Bruins. Some of us said in a different era, Kadri's play was expected and permitted.

Funny how a little time and a little more light on these officials paints an interestingly similar picture but on the opposite side of the coin.

All this to say, Nazem Kadri was always welcome on my Leafs team. Love him back if we could afford him.

In fact, Nazem Kadri should be a byword for why trading your core isn't such a great idea.

I say this only because they can’t move Tavares, until they move one of Marner or Matthews and rebalance the team with better depth and goaltending nothing will change.
