I dont know why everyone here so caught up on Bob. He didn't play out of his mind, he didn't put vezina caliber performance. He did his job, he just provided average adequate goaltending

The problem with us is we haven't had adequate goaltending in long long time so we think Bob played out of his mind

We had chances and we will win. Leafs in 6

Buy Sammy needs to provide just average goaltending.
I mean Sammy was lights out game 6 and also stole game 3. He sucked on the fourth goal last night, but otherwise the team is at fault for poor defensive play.

Above all else, Leafs got sucked into Florida's style of play. If the Leafs play their own system and dictate the play they will be able to handle the Panthers.

After watching Tkachuk in the playoffs, anybody still think Marner is 1.5m or more better ? We saw why you do not pay Nylander major dollars. He is not winning you any playoff games when opponents up their physicality. IMO Marner will not either.
I do, 100%.

Different types of players no doubt.

Exactly. Before the empty net flurry at the end Bob made maybe 1 or 2 good saves. The rest of the time he didn't even have to move because of his good positioning and all of the Leafs' shots from the outside. The Leafs got rewarded twice when a player actually took the puck to the net.

They need to grow some cajones.

For all the clips about Willy's spin move, i thought him jumping out of the way at the blueline was way worse

That defence....oh boy. It's so bad even Luke Schenn looks like a Norris winner in comparison. Schenn has been amazing but he shouldn't be our most reliable. There should be atleast 2 more guys providing better. What a fail of a defensive build.

It has to be their "system" though right? They kind of chop off their own nose to spite their face all the time and to me it looks like they have been told to keep possession > everything. Lots of times they have a chance to easily clear and instead make a short dangerous pass that gets gobbled up etc.

He took 6 years to become anything
Not a chance any team waits that long for a player to come through

There's nothing he did in the junior that was indicative of the player he would become today
Yeah I don't mind giving up, it's good to see that people can still develop into something given a propwr chnace and motivation.

The whole feel of the game last night was disjointed. Honestly, I could barely comprehend how different it was to the TB series and it felt like the players were uncomfortable as well. The game was very physical, but also so loose and haphazard, it was the polar opposite of “fighting for every inch” last series. Guys like McCabe, who normally are smart with their pinches, were reckless and rIverboat. We will adjust, it’s just too bad we threw away a game that we could have easily won. We can drive the net on this team, stop curling away like it’s TB, it’s a different animal here, dangerous but flawed imo. We should have buried them first period.

He was blocking Marchments development.

That and the fact that Schenn and Gio can't play the hard minutes we need them to play in the playoffs.
Including Schenn here is strange. He was 5th overall in 5v5 minutes for the Leafs against Tampa and 4th for defense behind Brodie, McCabe and Rielly. He also crushed those minutes only being on the ice for one goal against all series.

-Scoring chance for 39 highest during post season( 2nd best was at 34 gm 1 vs tb)
-High danger chance for : 20 highest of post season ( 2nd was game #2 at 18)
-High danger shot for: 15 highest in post seasom ( 2nd was gm #2 vs tb with 14)
-Expecting goal for 4.46 highest of post season ( 2nd best 3.95 tb gm #2)

So yes he was playing like a vezina goalie yesterday

He played two games for the Marlies and they gave him away after 2 years. No idea WTF Lou and Co. were thinking at the time of the trade.

He's been great but I am not sure he can keep it up the deeper we go into the playoffs,

He was a medicore prospect at best. His game was vanilla and had no special skills.

He didn't show anything with marlies or Bridgeport

Good for him to turn into a very good player. But there are plenty of players in the league that are late bloomers

It took Tim Thomas 10 years to become a starter

He was a 3rd round pick and put up some good numbers in Niagara and Syracuse. Not high end prospect but more than mediocre.
