I think if he knew he was going to get a penalty for doing nothing he probably would have just went after him. Matthews wants to draw the penalty and score a goal to help his team come back, not goon it up with someone who’s less than half the player he is.

Yeah, 99/100 PLD gets the extra call there if the officiating was not dogshit. Matthews then gets a chance to make him pay on the scoresheet.

Not sure why anyone wants to see Matthews in the box for gooning it up with players that are worse than him. The best way for Matthews to help his team win is by playing, not sitting.

If you watch the video of Sandin's hit, look at Pionik carefully. You can clearly see he has his eyes on Sandin the ENTIRE TIME. He was aiming for Sandin and had every intention of bringing him down. It was a deliberate hit.
