Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose 7-4 to the Avs - Contenders vs Pretenders

Everybody knew those teams were bad, this is supposed to be an in prime cup contending team that just had 4 horrendous performances, 2 times vs the worst of the worst, 2 times vs contenders where we got slapped around and humiliated. Everybody knows a team full of AHLers and bad rookies is going to lose, we have 4 guys in the top 10 in NHL salary getting absolutely demolished and humiliated out there.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are not a cup contender so I think that’s the frustrating first and foremost when you see it in action. They’re a pretender that spent their assets as if they were on the cusp.

He was awful tonight, the 2nd, 4th goals and 5th goals, and I could argue the 3rd goal too, because that wasn't even a real shot but I will let that one slide.

But the 2nd, 4th and 5th goals and all goals he should have had and goals he usually does when he is on.

I'm sure he will get it back but he was awful tonight

Are you younger than 20? Because this is this biggest load of shit I’ve ever seen. It’s not even remotely close to the worst stretch of hockey. The Horachek collapse was easily worse than this. Hell even the collapse the year before was worse.

Horachek was the greatest tank commander I have ever seen in Toronto.

Because in a game where the team struggled as whole he was one of the only players who was remotely a threat?

He had a bad play but that doesn't override everything he did prior. The Leafs could've killed the penalty, they didn't do it, Stolarz could've played the shot better but he didn't

quite frankly I would treat this as a sunk season -> must have some long term goals

-Do not throw assets or commit to longer contracts.
- wait to see how we perform in the playoffs with the so called Core4 again under a new coach in Berube

If now isn't the time wheh the east is weaker then It's been in at least a decade, you are top 5 in the NHL and leading the Atlantic.

well... we've pretty much done that for a while. we do not really have a #1D man. Our depth isn't as good. we have pending UFAs with high AAV who have time and time again not shown up in the post season when it really matters. On top of that we have goalies who have performed decently but are still unproven in the playoffs.

Eventually one has to take calculated...

Why can we never outshoot a team, especially by that margin

When was the last time we outshot a team by 10+ shots?

Edit: January 22 vs the Columbus Blue Jackets in a 5-1 loss shots were 29-18

Ya, you're crying like he can't perform better, after one game we've seen the absolute best from a player and he can only get worse so it's a colossal loss of an acquisition.

Just chill and give him more than one game before you've completely written him off like you're saying.

They can get outshot every game as long as they win.
