He was with New Jersey devils organization
Good to know, thanks for that.

You're right though. I am a huge rebuild guy and have a very high tolerance for shit hockey while building the youth pool, but that team was absolutely horrid. Horrid for a purpose, and I believe in that approach to a point, but holy crap were they awful.

I don't know and quite honestly don't particularly care about the shot totals.

They can get outshot every game as long as they win.

Although I suspect they will outshoot Utah
Then how is it goaltending’s fault but never the players?

this was again the forwards fault, we had 19 total shots, we got dominated and made stupid turnovers and plays. We have the core 4 who should be able to go head to head against their core, we added another third line piece and we ended up putting 19 shots on net.

Well, that was a craptastic performance. The fact that we could have won the game is beyond comprehension. We have played like crap for a while, and it was no different tonight.

The only positive for me was Stolarz. If we can even play decent in front of him he will steal us games. We need to turn it around for soon. This is not the same team defensively that we saw the first half of the season. Clearly another down for the season we need to work through.

Fair enough but it was Ill advised for a smart player to not get it in deep marner has a history of bacc breaking plays
It definitely was, but that's Marner's game for better or for worse. Unfortunately for us, in big moments it's almost always been for worse

No,, but I highly doubt this is the best we are going to see from them. That being said, is this really a winning environment they are walking into? Other than loser Thornton, every other deadline UFA we got has walked as soon as they had the chance (I think anyway). That should speak volumes about that room. I am sure it is a great room. But they all know it is not a winning room.

I digress... these guys both have term, which I like... and if the team wants to keep them, it is probably a must for deadline acquisitions.

ROR and Schenn's comments were interesting..... to me at least...

Should never signed Rielly to such a long term deal at this much money. We’re stuck with his terrible contract until the 2029-30 season.

Should’ve kept and signed bertuzzi instead of domi last summer. Domi has been a total liability to the leafs this year meanwhile Tyler is outproducing him on Chicago this season.

I stand by what I said, the 2nd 4th and 5th goals are all goals Stolarz has to have and usually does when he ias on.

It's OK to say he was awful tonight because he was.

it's not a big deal he will get it back.

doesn't change the fact he was awful tonight

First time I have said this, this year but this loss is on Stolarz.

He was awful tonight, the 2nd, 4th goals and 5th goals, and I could argue the 3rd goal too, because that wasn't even a real shot but I will let that one slide.

But the 2nd, 4th and 5th goals and all goals he should have had and goals he usually does when he is on.

I'm sure he will get it back but he was awful tonight
The 4th goal? Pass from behind the goal line to a wide-open Drouin in the low slot... fine it wasn't the best shot from Drouin but it was a horrible d-zone breakdown and tough for any goalie to react to.

Otherwise I agree Stolarz was bad and unusually squirrelly in his movements and slow to track the puck. Hopefully just an aberration... but if he and Woll both get into a funk that's it for the season.

Right. Both things can be true. Goalie AND Team can both suck. Which they did. Neither one bailed out the other... team loss. But, the goalie does have the power to to be the single biggest difference maker.

Performance wise definite pretenders.

Talent wise it is there, but they should've moved off the same player they have X4 in Marner/Tavares/Nylander/Matthews at some point to try something different.

It's not there talent wise either. They lack #1 D and D depth as a whole until this year, depth is weak ever since the goofs signed these awful contracts, and ZERO leadership at any levels. They have a couple of skilled players, that's it.

In some ways, this team makes me love the sport more. Because operations like this always come up short and embarrass themselves as it always should in hockey. It's like karma.

It used to be the Leafs doing it to the Senators, then in a SICK twist of fate they made a fanboy of those Senators the GM. The rest is history. :help:

Shanahan was the artichetect of this entire shitshow, if we bow out early again he needs to go or this entire fanbase needs to walk. 60 years of futility is enough. I remember being so happy when Stavros took over and Ballard was finally gone, yet here we are. Most inept franchise in pro sports for the last 6 decades.
I honestly can't believe the direction we have taken since that playoff exit to the Caps.

It took a monumental effort to f*** that situation up, and we managed to do it.

that's still a shot he stops when he's on I'm not overly concerned it's literally arguably his first bad game all year, MAYBE his 2nd but it's still a bad game from him.
