I like a lot of things other teams did:

1. Boston capitalized on their team not being good enough.
2. Lou sold Nelson for a very nice haul.
3. Colorado looks great down the middle.
4. Dallas with the Rant move and re-upping Wyatt.
5. Florida getting Jones with nice retention.

Not a fan of Carolina but atleast they pivoted and got some decent assets back.
Yeah but Carolina went from Necas and drury to stank for this years PO. Can’t imagine that Slavin, Aho, Staal, Jarvis, Svech are pleased.

Chicago taking in the Webber contract at the tdl is not giving people the confidence that they are going to aim to improve the roster. You don’t make that deal unless you are concerned about meeting the cap floor. Or at least spend only up to the midpoint between floor and cap to add that nearly $8 mill cap charge.

Seems more teams are simply going for it. 11 traded 2025 firsts. 7 traded 1sts for 2026 draft draft already.
LV-Hanifin
Edm-Walman
Col-Nelson
Dal-Rantanen
Tor-Carlo
TB-Gourde
Fla-Jones

Some of these clubs could end up H2H like. The 2/3 matchup in Metro is NJ/Car. Atl is any combo of Fla/TB/Tor. Central, could be Dal/Col.

It was clear no team cares about 2025 picks.

2026 is harder to obtain but if contention and late pick, again most teams don’t care.

7 PO teams moved their ‘26 first. How many teams are left that are confident about making the ‘26 PO? Car, Win, Wash , LA all held onto their ‘25 pick. Those 4 get you up to 11.

NJ, Min have their pick which get you to 13 teams. Once you hit into the Teens you aren’t as confident in moving a future pick.

So like 6 clubs should be fairly confident of making the PO in 26 that could deal their pick but 2/3 of them would have moved their ‘25 pick for the right asset.

Ovi 8 away now
Cant wait, this is history before our eyes. I was always told Gretzkys records were untouchable. And to think Ovi did it during a era that has WAY less goal scoring, and did it pretty equally throughout his career well Gretzky did it during his first few years when his team was scoring nearly 5 goals a game

Ovi also lost like 1.5 years to lockouts too. This record would have been absolutely roasted and we'd be asking if he would hit 1000 had the 04/05 lockout not occurred (and he joined the league that year) and there wasn't the shortened 12/13 season.

Makar will always outscore Hughes when he plays with MacKinnon. The guy has a 6 point lead for the Art Ross right now.

Despite his 6 point game, Hughes still has a higher PPG right now. Avs fans would have you believe he's garbage.

It can't be any worse than here. I can't understand for the life of me why some people on this board keep slagging Makar and say he's a crap player. So cringy when I see it. Utterly ridiculous and just childish. It's embarrassing really. Obviously they are both excellent players, the best in the world at the position and I'm sure they would both agree as well.

Ovy, really had a shot at 1000 career NHL regular season goals if he was born a couple of days earlier woudl have made the 2003 draft, vs 2004 one. Add in the work stoppage year, plus another 35 games for Covid, We are talking close to 200 games there. If he could have gotten 80 goals there for example, he'd be like 35 or something away from 1,000 at this point in time, but close to 100 games remaining on his contract.

82 games for 04/05, like 10-12 for 19/20, then 26 for 20/21. So roughly 120 games there. Say 65 goals there, he'd be in round 950. With 100 games or so left to get another 50 (40 goal pace).
