I don’t really judge a players will to win on hits. Also I definitely saw Matthews get a hit tonight.

What’s lacking is that small gap, tight pressure on the puck.
Definitely saw Matthews throw a pretty big hit in the 2nd. Even surprised me. Whoever keeps track of that in Ottawa is on crack if he wasn't credited with one.

it's too bad Kadri lost his cool in 2 playoffs cause he was the player we need. He dragged the leafs into lots of games where they were floating around the ice. He would lay a hit sometimes borderline but it would force his teammates to ramp up their game as the other team starting running after Kadri. He would get into the dirty area's.

If Marner had Kadri's passion and fire he would be worth his money
Kadri losing his cool doesn't bother me as much as it bothers most. The team is the one's who let Kadri down. He was playing hard but the softee"s just curled up and whimpered. Where was everyone else when he was ejected. Most teams rally together with adversity. This team does the opposite, pack up there bags and whimper home.

This team hasn't played well for a while. They looked bad late last year and might have even missed the playoffs. Colombus made them look like chumps and to be quite frank, I thought we were a little lucky to beat Montreal. Someone has to take the blame. Right now, it's Dubas, Keefe, Andersen and Marner. Not solely but Marner doesn't look like an 11 million dollar player to me. I can't remember the last time Andersen won us a game and what is Keefe's record now in all games he has coached? I don't think the pay half your cap to 4 guys formula is working.

well take it up with NHL stats,,it's where i pulled it from

you are already behind the 8 ball, when the other team comes to town with a sigh of relief knowing they won't have to pay physically to win.

The team just isn't consistently good enough, and wether its lack of urgency or apathy you don't pay 3 players 33 million for either. It needs to change and if it doesn't then the top players will have to change.

well, you tell me

we have been out hit 67 to 26 in these 2 games

against 2 teams that are not considered to be "tough/heavy" teams

we are the biggest wussies on the block

You're out of date. Ottawa, this year at least, went out of their way to be one of the bigger/heavier/dirtier teams in the league. Bolded are just new regulars who are known as overtly big/physical guys/fighters/etc..:

Paquette
Coburn
Gudbranson
Watson
Coburn
Josh Brown
Batherson:
Not really new, but Only played 20 games last year.
Tkachuk
Paul

Sabourin and Borowiecki are gone form last year, but Sabourin rarely played much anyway. Also, in particular, the "known" smaller/softer skill guys weren't playing tonight even if they might play later in the season:

White
Galchenyk
Brannstrom

The only real "soft" guys playing tonight were Tierney, Dadonov, and Anisimov. Edit: Forgot Wolanin along the softbois.

Stepan, Stutzle, and Norris are also new but they're kind of all in the middle of the spectrum. We'll see where they end up. Edit: Chabot/Connor Brown/Zaitsev are kinda in the middle too.

You are right! I would rather cheer for them than a team full of lightweights who took the money and ran.

I think it’s more about working the other team, like a 60 minute bag skate. The hits are less important, you gotta wear them down.

We are giving opposition way too much time to breathe and think.

I'm going to trust Keefe to make the right changes. I agree with him the offense is a problem right now as well.

Matthews desperately needs a winger who can cycle the puck with him. This one and done transition helps nothing.

Barrie was brutal with the Leafs...

Brodie played terribly tonight...

And I don't recall Hainey costing $5 million a year...

But thank you for that extremely horrible Twitter take.

Learned a lot.

don't think it's bad a take at all. Time to look at #44 and understand what you got. Good O but suspect D. Nothing more simple than that

Stuetzle is as soft as they get.

And I don't. I was 100% right when they hired that useless and clueless GM. He is totally responsible for the mess this team is in. You can throw Shanahan in there because he hired that guy.
Maybe, but after he left to the Islander's , we hired Dubas.
