Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose 5-2

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In my opinion, these guys are completely incapable of playing 60 minutes of desperation hockey.
They'll do it in the playoffs against a stout opponent in the first round after losing out on the division all while not being able to find that one more goal they need.

In Evil’s defence, he expected an easier game…
I expected Toronto's offense to overwhelm Nashville's AHL-level defense. That is what should have happened, but they took the night off. I get it. because it happens to every team, but this was a waste. I don't think it will make any difference in terms of standings because Florida and Tampa are likely going to keep losing, but there was no reason to lose this game. On to the next, which is against another dreadful team.

That 2nd line would get absolutely crushed. Zero defensive awareness between the 3 of them.
Ok fine, I capitulate.

We cannot use Robertson as a winger in the playoffs. Domi-Robertson is to suspect defensively and they go way too quiet for long stretches.

Also - neither Laughton or Domi are a good 3c. I'm actually at the point where I'm considering using Holmberg as a 3c if I'm Berube because I have no confidence in Domi as a center and It's obvious Laughton is a much better winger by both the eye test, and the analytics.

They really must re-structure the entire top 9 imo.

Domi-Matthews-Nylander
Laughton-Tavares-Marner
Knies-Holmberg-McMann

Logic

Line 1: Domi has chemistry with both Matthews and Nylander. That line makes a lot of sense. Get Domi out of that center role. If Domi isn't a top 6 winger, he has no role on this team.
Line 2: Tavares-Laughton can play the cycle game and Marner can run the 2nd line.
Line 3: We need to have reliable 3rd line. Knies and McMann give us that. Holmberg can play C because frankly the other options are looking really bad.

Robertson is the odd man out.

Dream on. No way they bring him back without playoff success. They are a complete joke if they do.
I think this management group is so risk adverse that they would resign Marner, and pay him whatever he wants, no matter the playoff outcome.

Not a great game, or effort…but…
Gotta love this toxic fanbase.

My least fav thing about being a Leaf fan, is the 90% of Leafs fans.

Continue on, whipping your whipping boys.
