Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 5-2

Difference tonight was goaltending and special teams.

Goaltending - just ride Woll until Stolarz is back. Murray is just not an NHL goaltender anymore.

Special teams need a lot of work between now and the post season. Very worrying as they've been a problem for years.

In the playoffs for sure. Leafs were #2 a couple of years ago

Not a single Saturday night win in December is brutal.

The upcoming home and home meeting vs NYI doesn't look promising either with weak special teams, suspect defensive plays and bad goaltending.

Games against the Islanders are best enjoyed via boxscore. It's just such a chore watching that team.

Felt like the exact type of game we lose in the playoffs. Shittier goaltending, pathetic special teams, chances but no finish.

Murray shouldn't start another game unless Hildeby somehow plays worse than he did tonight.

Caps look like a team that can do damage in the playoffs this year. No shame in this game tonight. Caps are a solid team. Seems like every time the panthers lose we cant take advantage.

If AM is going to miss any more time, they’re going to have to look at going to Minten. This triumvirate of Dewar, Holmberg, and Kampf will not win on most nights. And if you get down by a goal or two, you’re likely done. I feel so bad for Willy getting stuck with Holmy and an underperforming Knies.

Murray was awful. I gave him a bit of a pass last game, but that was just a horrible performance.

No guarantee Woll just gives up 1 goal. The offence needs to score. When JT, Marner, and Willy don't score we don't score. Too many blackholes. Tre needs to fix that.

As we have seen the past two years, it is difficult to win 2-1 in the playoffs night after night.

This team never seizes the moment. Any time they have an opportunity to do anything of value, they blow it. Every year.

We still don't have that "killer instinct" and it's obvious.

Nylander is such a talent.

Even despite playing with 3rd liners and habing little help most of the year, hes 3rd (might be 1st after tonight) in the NHL in individual high danger chances.

Murray can't track pucks from distance and his movements are awkward and robotic. If he can get a clear line of sight he has a chance. Any traffic and a wrong guess he has the athleticism of a plywood board.

Can’t rely on top notch goaltending every night. Sometimes you just lose, it happens.

You can only hope that when your goaltender is not the star the team would step up to bail him out but not this bunch of pretenders.

Shitty special teams as well.

Season observation, this team is not a winning team unless they get way above average goaltending. Which based on previous playoffs should not surprise anyone.

They kinda suck really... But have enough skill to be a playoff team.
