We played pretty well. The Rangers are a very good team, it was a pretty even game at even strength, if anything I thought we were a bit better. However, we didn’t get a single PP, and the PPs were the difference.

Well, not just PPs - the bounces were really bad for us too. 3 of their 4 not-empty-net goals were going wide and deflected off Leafs and in. Goal 1 was an absolutely insanely bad bounce, goal 2 a very bad bounce, goal 4 a pretty bad bounce. The only goal against where you can really criticize anyone on the team was goal 3 - JT got caught flat footed/slow, and was beaten too clean and easily by Schneider.

No team wins every night, I had no significant issues with our compete level or play in this one, that’s very much a game that could have gone either way. On to the next one.

One of those nights. Jones was great. Kept us in the game, otherwise that game would have gone out of hands
Matthews was great

Need more out of Marner, Tavares and Nylander

3rd line was absolute disaster

Jones was fine and fully capable. Got beat on a couple of bad bounces here and there which happens. No margin for error with a recent Vezina winner Shesterkin on his game and probably determined to wipe that 7-3 loss off the boards.

It was a close game with a lot of bad and unusual bounces, just gotta move on.

Three things I don't like, Blake Wheeler's big dentures smiling after he scores on the Leafs, Mika Zibanejad's brutal hairdo and Nick Robertson pro star standing still dekes.
Zibanobad has that cavemen look down to a T.

So you have watched this entire season to this point and your conclusion is that other teams are better at coming back from being down than the Leafs? Sweet Mary. Losses happen. Boston saving themselves from losing to one of the worst teams in the league is not a reason to moan about the Leafs.
Huh? WTF are you talking about? I'm pointing out the Bruins were given a PP late in the game that helped them tie it whereas we didn't even get a single PP all night. Hence the must be nice comment.

*Timmins, Brodie and McCabe with three bone-headed plays which just cannot...
*Please, I don't want to hear about our goalie being the cause of this one.
*Of our bottom 6, Jarnkrok led the way with just under 13', according to Moneypuck. Hard to get a feel for the game when you're stapled to the bench. While understandable if you're talking about Reaves, I can't see that working out when so many are receiving so few minutes.
*I hate commenting about the reffing in a game, but come on.
*When Matthews is on a heater, my goodness.

I thought the team played well for the most part. Bad bounces and the refs deciding the Rangers didn’t deserve a single penalty (holding on Knies, slash on Matthews) is ridiculous. Tavares absolutely awful and Timmins has to sit the next game. Not too upset but dammit we deserved at least one PP.

I have no problems with this game whatsoever. Matthews scores 2 goals and four out of the five goals that went in were not Jones’s fault. They were all flukes that bounced off Leaf players pads and pants.

Really liked our ozone game tonight for the most part. Matthews showing some of that dog in his forecheck again. On the balance I thought we were good enough to win, just got some bad bounces against.

The problem is the game winner was his fault entirely.

It was the game winner so at the end of that day that's all that matters.

Didn’t love the third goal - but hardly a case to blame Jones. Puck luck, no coaching adjustments and no power plays were the difference.

Solid effort - not the result we want.
1 game, no big deal.

Meh, Tavares is cooked.

Tavares play after year 1 is the main reason the Leafs have underperformed. He was really good when the NHL was slower, but it sped up and left him behind.
JT .92 points per game as an Islander, .98 points per game as a Leaf. Throw away his best leaf year for some reason it’s .96 points. It’s a total myth he is worse here.
