The difference in game 2 last year is that it was a home game and Tampa were missing Cernak and Hedman was banged up. Bruins D will all be playing and are healthy.
Speaking of Boston’s D, I thought Peeke looked pretty damn good for them last night, funny how he wasn’t good enough for the Leafs to take a chance on………

Which is better in the long run,

1 - Marner signing for $11m (it's got to be $11.5m at least)

Or

2 - Losing Marner in FA clearing up $11m in cap room?
2. We need change.

or.

I'll sign him for 12 AAV, but I want full trade options.

I thought the leafs played fine. Boston was the better team but not as lopsided as the score. If core decides to no show game 2 Holmberg and Kampf lines better pick up the offensive slack.
If the core no-show Game 2 then it doesn't matter what the depth does because there is ZERO chance this team is winning 4 of 5 against Boston anyways. None.

Going to need at least 3-4 goals a game to have any chance. This team isn't built to outduel Boston in a game of tightness and sitting on 1-2 goals. Bruins are very structured and have elite goaltending, that doesn't bode well for getting sucked into low scoring affairs.

It’s one game… to put this into perspective… we win tomorrow to tie the series and gain home ice advantage.
We've lost 8 straight.

They have our number.

We haven't scored one goal in the first period over those games.

This was our nightmare matchup, and it will come to fruition barring some natural disaster.

Boston really sucks against most teams because they can't score. They score easily against us.

Did we get one odd man rush last night ?

Hope springs eternal!
I love the optimism but at some level, I think I have Leaf blindness. My team really sucks, but I can just somehow pretend their poorly designed roster can somehow beat the team that always seems to crush us. I'm just blind to the obvious. It's all there for everyone to see but me, hoping, 5 decades in a row, that this will be my team's year.

The main reasons the Leafs lost for the last 8 years are the same reasons that still exist today. Goaltending issues, lack of toughness on D to handle forecheck, core 4 doesnt look hungry enough, known to choke leads or not show up at all. I have no reason to watch the re-occuring b.s. keep happening. Management is the main reason the Leafs will lose in the first round again.

If Nylander watched that loss alone in a room, I could see him laughing at times, would not be agitated at all that the group lost. Marner would be agitated if he watched that loss alone in a room and be emotional but Marner also at times is completely willing to check out and play perimeter hockey when physical hockey shows up.

People that blame goaltending all the time just miss the forest for the trees. Do you expect to win every game 1-0 or something? This team is built to score goals and win games 5-4, 4-3. But the offence disappears in the playoffs every year. They are built to make the goaltending a non factor. So you're saying these 10+M forwards can not figure out a way to score on good goalies in the playoffs?

This team needs a new coach, and a massive shake-up to the core. Also for the love of God get a D-man that can move the puck! Rielly is the only guy that doesn’t treat the puck like a grenade. A big issue with this team is that it takes them forever to get the puck out of the D zone. All you see these guys do is reverse, reverse, reverse. Boston is eatting us alive on the forecheck

Lybushkin, Benoit, McCabe, Edmunson .... there's no lacking toughness there at all. Much different than in years past.
