So Keefe is still playing Sammy as if he’s our number one goalie…🤦‍♂️
Washington let him go for a reason. Our management, including our coaches, are TOO STUPID to recognize that he's NOT a great goalie when he regularly gives up BAD GOALS !!!

This game should have been an easy 3-1 win !!!

Right now, feels like they are the problem not the left winger.

Saving themselves for the playoffs? Whatever it is, it is not pleasant to watch.
Wasn’t criticizing Knies just mentioning the line doesn’t work well.

Thank God we’ve got a game immediately tomorrow. Chance to erase this one from memory ASAP.

They’ve been putrid for a while. Any time Keefe wants to break them up would be great. Though given how good lines 2 and 3 have been it probably isn’t wise to shuffle those ones to help two guys who shouldn’t need any help.

Blackhawks are garbage, and the Leafs pissed away yet another game.

But I will say, this had a Norris Division rivalry feel to it, and it was good to see/watch.

I’ve always hated Chicago with a passion. My earliest hockey hatred was probably Roenick, Chelios, Suter, Belfour and Poulin and Graham. Probably Weinrich.

Their recently pathetic off ice history and Gary Bettman’s unrelenting efforts to make them into hockey’s Chicago Bulls has not changed my mind.

Had a ton of chances in the first half of the game but in the end several players on this team should be embarrassed with their game. In order:

1. Samsonov stinks, this game is mainly on him. Way too far back in his net. It's time to give Woll a run and live with some inconsistencies. At least he's young.
2. Marner and his cute plays that resulted in several turnovers. Reminded me why some people want him traded.
3. Coaching. What were Domi and Robertson doing on the ice in OT. Another too many men penalty.
4. Timmins was a mess in own zone. Lagesson didn't help.

Sure there was some bad luck, but this team with as much talent as they have should never lose to a terrible team like Chicago. It's games like this that I wonder if this team has learned anything from the past.

Blackhawks are a few rookies, a few washed up vets, the rest AHL placeholders. Leafs still couldn't handle them.

One round and out in the playoffs - nothing will change until the Core Fore is dissolved.

It didn’t seem like the Leafs couldn’t handle them, it’s like our stars seem to be somewhat on energy saver mode and want to win with all-star trick moves with minimal engagement.

I don't blame Samsonov. You can't win with soy boys on the first line. Period. Almost every Marner action led to a puck loss. Lazy, irresponsible. The Leafs are not a men's team. There is no one to teach Marner to be a man. No other option but to trade him. Maybe he will land on a team with men in the core, and they will teach him something. The rest of them dudes... That pond hockey in the second was hard to watch and I've seen alot.

Matthews doesn't look like a top 25 player most nights.

Going to be the most overpaid player in the league next season.

I find he kind of goes into Rick Nash energy saver mode a lot and has lost that Hart Trophy season drive. Like he’ll coast for a while, doesn’t want to handle the puck 200 feet, wants to try a skill thing that almost wows.

Ain't much more to say
This loss hurts a bit more because it characterizes the worst version of this team. Sloppy, disinterested, low iq, terrible goaltending everything all at once and you get the creeping feeling that this maybe the way they play more and more as the season progresses. But that's just the bitterness talking. Tomorrow they will be amazing and I will have forgotten about this afternoon right?

I don’t like the result but they have banked 9 of 10 points flaws and all so you hope they can figure it out for 60 minutes.

One thing they lack from a character POV is the psychotic drive to win. Same energy that drives someone like Marchand to go mess up Bedard. They just don’t really find that top gear that often, can’t trick themselves into applying themselves. Don’t seem to really mind when they don’t get the points night. Let in the extra goals. That’s who they’ve been for a long time.

Man people leap off the ship so fast around here. I agree Marner hasn't been good. Disagree on Matthews hate/rants. Styles has been our best player so far and it's not close. JT yawn. Knies young still learning, don't panic or TRADE him. Bertuzzi finally fitting in, has some grit we need. Domi better in the middle. Even though he was on the ice for the last goal I thought Robertson was our best forward today. Samsonov not great so far but saved our asses last season. Signing Matt Murray was DUMB!!! Brick Woll not sure he's the answer, but interesting prospect. Readers Digest Recap. Back to the haters
