They actually got the big goal on that 2nd goal.

But Keefe decides to keep the Matthews' line out for some reason and lets Boston go right back and score the go ahead.

As frustrating as the PP is, they are quite snakebitten this year .. they are doing a better job getting pucks around the net but not many bounces. Still, they need to find a way.

Yeah no idea why that line was out there again after a highly emotional goal. That’s just not typically done. You spark the next shift.

I feel like there’s more heart than other years. This was a tough loss but not bad or embarrassing like other games.

Yeah, I don't feel like this was lack of heart. Just felt like a bad goal or two, a defensive miscue and of some missed chances did us in. Bert flubbed some chances, AM hits a post. We really did play well enough to win in a lot of ways, and not well enough in some others.

Im at a point now where I am indifferent to what happens moving forward.

Win - great (always wanted them to pull through and prove everyone wrong)

Lose - great (marner and tavares are wasted cap space for a cup winner)

Need to blow up the core and keep matthews/nylander. Marner is not going to win here. He cant play in the playoffs.

I hate the Bruins so much. They can tackle Matthews and Marchand can instigate whenever he wants and never get called for it. Refs had a big impact on the game tonight and it's sad to see.
Exactly right. Those Leaf fans that can't see the bias in favor of the Bruins, and most American teams, are as blind as the Refs.

Maybe he got into some kinky stuff and already did and that was the problem? Sounds as feasible as all the other nonsense on here.

He'll obviously play when he can. We need him, but I do worry people are going to be expecting too much.
When he's ready to play even if he isn't 100% he's going to be better than whoever comes out of the lineup for him.
BUT, he's likely not to be 100% when he comes back, its the playoffs. Look at Marner, he doesn't look himself after coming back, and he's been a non-factor in the 3 games so far.

That's when you put the Tavares line out.

Mind you, they came close to scoring again right after .. like really close

But at that point you need to settle the game down and let the momentum cascade into the next line.

The Bertuzzi sequence is everything you want to see on a PP except the fact it didn't go in.

A point shot that is tipped, win the battle for the rebound, another shot. Win the next two battles and create two more glorious chances.

Unbelievable

I'm going to be honest, I'm not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about paying Liljegren this offseason

He's not worth 3M, let alone 4M or 5M

Ideally he’s the youngish piece that gets packaged for something better. So you avoid paying him the big bucks while finding the Mr Right (Hand Shot).

Playoffs is not like no touch reg. Season
Mathews has found this out
Check him and play physical against him

Imagine paying thousands of dollars just to see these guys lay another playoff egg at home. 1-7 in their last 8 home games, f***ing pathetic

Yep, Liljegren needs to join his buddy in Washington. He is too soft IMHO.

The 2 best defenders for Toronto this series:

Joel f***ing Edmunson
Jake f***ing McCabe

What do they have in common?

Are they silky-smooth skating defensemen who can move the puck around efficiently?

No, they punish the other team and defend the house.

Enough with comparing defensemen by how many points they generate. Who the f*** cares how many?

How well do they prevent the other team from scoring?

Sandin was never going to be a quality NHL defenseman, and Liljigren has show what he is - a 3rd pairing player who can generate offense for middling teams in the regular season when there is no intensity out on the ice.

Probably. But we’re more of a finesse team and those types skill goals don’t happen as much during the playoffs. Usually tips, screened shots, rebounds in tight kind of goals. They just don’t have the time and space to play their finesse game. Especially Marner

I don't think we're a finesse team this year to be honest, we've got a lot of butchers out on the ice. I think we're struggling in transition a bit, and some of that has to fall onto coaching (and maybe some on the personnel on defense...Morgan is our only puck mover and he's not flying like he was last playoffs).

Leafs certainly do need him, but if the rest of the team can't score then he's not going to be enough. I just don't get why the Leafs offensive is so dry in the playoffs with all those talented players.
They don't get PAID in the playoffs !!!

I disagree. I think you use this as a why to lower his cost as a good learning experience. Defensemen maturity can take a longer time to develop, especially in playoff time.

A cost effective #4 is still quite valuable.

Does it make him untouchable? No .. but he doesn't need to be shot out of a cannon tonight. That was his 10th playoff game. And 5th with meaningful minutes. It's growing pains.
