Discount is not in the Matthews English dictionary. He'll be traded before July 1st if he is not willing to resign here if Leafs management has any brains, which they do not so my guess is they overpay him, again.

He's a bit of a playboy. I think he tries to go to a team like Chicago, NYR, one of the California teams, Vegas, etc.

Wherever he gets paid big and it's also a market where he can earn more $ on the side and be surrounded by celebs or whatever.

The only positive I can take from this series at this point is the likelihood of major changes being made. Things can't continue this way.

This organization is so hard on their fans. It's ridiculous. The most loyal fan base in sports and this is what we have to endure year after year.

Marner has hands of stone once the playoffs start. He doesn't even want the puck and has no clue what to do with it when he has it.

He got great speed and is one of the best passers in the league.
Unfortunately, he got no shot and physique of a soccer player.

Why is anyone surprised he struggles when players start throwing their weight around in playoffs?

Apologies for the snideness, but the conversation isnt please stay - youre gaining buy-in to proceed. Hes either in or out, then you adjust course accordingly

Contrast all of this to Cooper who benched Kucherov, Stamkos and Point for an entire period because they were playing like dogshit. When asked about it, he directly said, "I played the guys who I felt gave us the best chance to win." That is how you send a message.

Marner should have sat the entire second period save for maybe a few fourth line shifts to see if he could dig his head out of his ass and Nylander should have moved up. Earn your damn minutes kid.

It really makes you wonder what this core might look like with a stricter coach like Quenneville, Gallant or Laviolette. One thing's for certain, Keefe should be the first domino that falls whenever the season ends. He's had enough chances but has basically ridden regular season success with 100 point players.
We had the strictest coach in Babcock and this core still pulled that bullshit on him.

Maybe people should be less loyal if they wanna see actual results.

At this point, I can’t care anymore.

Only thing I’m feeling is fatigued disinterest.

Tired of the same disappointment and bullshit, where it feels we as fans care more than the players do.

I feel bad for my kids, who just know heartbreak and disappointment following this team, and I can already see them starting to put a pin in them.

My youngest has stopped wearing his jerseys and asked me this morning to take the flags off the car and the flag on the garage, while my older didn’t even bother watching the game at any point last night…..

Every year it feels I care less and less during the season because every year this team proves it doesn’t mean a damn thing.

Now I just want the season to end and let the axe fall wherever it’s going to fall.

Considering how long I’ve lived and cheered for this team, it’s a really crappy way to feel at this point in my life and this stage…
It's sad how this team lost a whole generation of fans too. Those years between 2005-2016 where there was absolutely nothing except the one flukey year with the 4-1 collapse, a bunch of kids who ended up becoming fans of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins etc. instead, or just didn't bother with hockey at all and decided to only cheer on the Raptors or Jays.

As has been said by some over the last few years, Dubas has left the next GM an absolute mammoth task that can't be won.

I genuinely feel sorry for the next GM having to undo all of the carnage that Kyle has created. Like where does he/her/them even begin?
Good question.
Florida made their moves.
Carolina moved on from Hanifin/Lindholm and changed.

We need to strike a better balance between regular season and playoffs. That probably requires change at the core level.

On the bright side, he doesn't have much to do on draft days. Sigh.

How do you "force" JT into accepting a trade, and why would Seattle give anything back if all we're retaining is 25%?
You get him to waive his NMC behind closed doors and work out a better termed trade to a competitive franchise looking to add a depth center who wants to look for a cup who can produce and is retained.

Whatever it takes to get JT outta here and let us re sign our important pieces.

MM, AM, JT, WN, MR, and an assorted 3rd and 4th line cast

One round won. And in more cases than not, they didn't seem like they were interested in playing playoff hockey

I really feel stupid.

I thought getting past Round 1 would ease the pressure and they would come out and take charge of the series.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

The depth guys have all done their part. Couldn't really ask for more.

It is just so frustrating . Inexusable really.

He/Marchand/Kuch are best to edgework skaters in league which works well in either end of ice when he gets da puck .. unfortunately is slow in straight away speed .. so he can't separate himself to create his own open ice .. Marchand/Kuch both have an ability to hit da gas .. this has been same issue since he has been 6 years old and is a direct function of how he was trained to skate .. i don't believe it can be fixed now .. so he will always struggle in playoffs against faster teams like cats

You would have to see what kind of players you got from trades, signings to work with Nylander moving forward.
I have no problem with Nylander but he’s always been the one up first for trades because I can’t see Marner moving.
Nylander is the first one mentioned in trades because he's the only one of the four who is underpaid, so he would bring the best return. It makes some sense, but by the same logic he's the best one to keep.

That ot goal was despicable. Reinhart goes completely untouched.
I know some people will blame Woll but a goalie would only expect a player on top of him that quickly in an All-Star game where it's shinny with no hitting.

I don't think I've ever seen an easier goal scored in a playoff OT where the defending team didn't hit a single opposition player during the sequence.

Prob a good thing. Let the fair weather fans cheer on other teams, MLSE is too powerful, we need them to drop down few pegs. Let the media obsess over other teams. (Ye I know wishful thinking). Worst thing to happen to the Leafs is becoming a giant corporate whore. I feel conflicted as a fan cuz I usually like to stick to DIY style stuff and all about the little guys. (Grew up and still into punk rock) MLSE is the furthest thing from punk rock lol

This rent probably doesn't make sense, but here I am.
