Toronto (NHL Season)
The blame lies with Shanahan.

He misplayed his cards with Dubas and then hired Tre, a GM with a fairly mediocre resume and track record, with just days before the draft and free agency. Tre, subsequently, made quite mediocre moves. Everyone but Tre knew that Reaves and Klingberg would be a disaster on this team.

This is not how you run a franchise with championship mentality and aspirations, and a long term vision.
Seriously that Reaves deal was f***ing stinky the instant it happened. Myself and many posters knew it wouldnt work out

Here, you take the puck.

Nah, I don't want it, here you go.

Meanwhile... Accciari says thanks, I'll take the puck and put it in the net so you can find it there.

Our Leafs need competent players, NOT clowns and overpaid ones.

Oh, and the Refs also gifted the Pens the 2 points as well. Tripping and high sticking missed several times.

Don’t know what it takes to motivate this team but somebody better figure it out soon.
I have been silent on Keefe.

I honestly believe Matthews and Marner care about winning. None of us know the expectations Keefe has laid out for them.

It is obvious both are struggling with confidence and are not playing anywhere near close to what the Leafs need them to be.

If Keefe has gone to them and told them to simplify their game and stop trying to make everything a highlight reel then it is on him for not benching them for not listening.

If he isn't, it is on him for not figuring out how to get through to them.

Not to take any fault away from Matthews and Marner, but you need a coach to help you deal with adversity, set guidelines and make sure they are followed through.

Holy f*** the Reaves deal means literally nothing.

Matthews and Marner are being outscored by their comparables by 25-50%.

That is the predominantly reason why we suck ass. We have a
1st line(nylander line)
3rd line (Domi line)
4th line (kampf line)

we haven’t had the Matthews line playing for looker a month now

Dubas is the POS who handed out contracts like they were candycanes who got us into this mess in the first place.

I'm no Tre defender, but the f*** with Dubas and his single series playoff win in 8 years as well. Piss poor cap management, throwing away money, picks like candy. He's as much to blame for this mess out of anyone outside of Shanny and I'd glad hes gone.

Leafs doing Leafs things; always finding ways to embarrass their fans and themselves.

Every chance this team gets to show that they’re different they never fail to prove to you that they’re the same old garbage we’ve always known them to be.

That series win last season was the biggest fluke of all time. Thoroughly outplayed and lucky as hell that Vasilevskiy couldn’t stop a beachball from the point. It will be the highlight of this pathetic cores time here. Honestly sickening

We are gonna regret the Matthews signing so bad

A top 10 Center swindled us into thinking he’s a top 3 player

Nylander will now proceed to score 6 in 10 and finish with ~80 points. At least we will ONLY have to pay him 9 million

Marner should stop playing hockey. Go play golf, no contact and probably have tons of hours put into it. He’s such a waste of an asset. Should’ve been dealt 4 years ago. I’d rather let him walk then sign him back, he takes playing for the leafs for granted.

Auston Matthews is a player with Top 2-3 ability, dogged effort level meets ideal pro frame, can back a defense with speed, a scary shot arsenal, who has come to a lazy cruise control of Top 20-ish player.

Unpredictable effort and engagement level shift to shift. Sometimes he's a power guy who wants to lead by example. Other times he's impersonating a 5'11" skill center afraid of traffic and defers the shot like he's an equal with Marner. Sometimes he wants to be defensively dogged, block shots and penalty kill. Other shifts he's a out for a pleasure skate. Just wasting his abilities and seems to be less and less serious as a player as time goes on.

Marner is awful. Sometimes reminds me of the James Harden quote, I'm not a system player, I am the system. How undisciplined do you have to be to belly flop multiple times on poke checks at opposite ends on the same shift?.

The lack of hands on Brodie McCabe and Gio is getting unbearable. We easily pot 2 goals in the 3rd with some skill on the backend that could keep the plays alive.

But marner and matthews playing well can overcome any issue during the regular season. These 2 put up 4 game win streaks even when Campbell was averaging 4 GA
