Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 3-1

I missed the third period and glad I did, but catching up on the recap, what the eff was Auston Matthews doing with one minute left leading to the EN goal?

Scrappy battle along the left wing boards after a weird Marner pass to nowhere, Matthews gets a break, looks like a possible 2 on 2 forming with a guy on the right wing, and Panthers in good shape, and Matthews drop passes it with Barkov back pressure?

Was it a long shift or was he that brain dead that he didn’t just enter the Florida zone? That is some bullshit decision making.

Man, if you miss a game on TSN, you're just f***ing screwed huh? The stupid TSN app doesn't even let you rewatch games.

Leafs got "goalied" for the umpteenth time eh? LMAO

For once you’d love to see the Leafs put some bump and grind on a goalie at the top of the crease or go cleats up on a crease crashing play. I never feel bad about suggesting dirty play vs Florida considering the shenanigans they put Stolarz through last game. Just a day of work for those guys. Our guys, let’s pile on more polite wristers.

its amazing how leafs keep playing chicken with freakin' pokechecks instead of separating man from puck by playing body

I look at them and think there is no effing way these morons would do what it takes to win in the playoffs. Talk is cheap in the end no matter what they say. I don't see their effort on the ice. its the same every freakin' year

Also, Matthews is the worst captain this team has ever had. Honestly, Phaneuf was better. lmao

Sad but true. Phaneuf didn't come out for the fan salute, but Matthews disrespects the fans every year and nobody cares anymore. Sorry state of affairs, I think the team is now for a different group of people.

And you’ll be the first one jumping on the Leafs playoff bandwagon.

Hypocritical “fans” like this are what makes the entire Leafs fan base the laughingstock of the league.

I wouldn't single out one of the forwards. Our top line, including Matthews, have been good all season.

It's the constant pressure, Florida put on the entire game. Our D could not match the pressure Florida was putting on. The entire team was being strangled it looked like.

Our D couldn't string one good pass the entire night. I don't blame Matthews.

When Florida has such a press, you need your star offensive D-man, to make plays to create space for your forwards. There was 0 space available.
Rielly did not make 1 skating attempt into the neutral/offensive zone, the forwards either had to skate it out from our on zone, or, receive a broken pass from the D Zone.

Wasted a chance but they’ve been playing better hockey lately

Need to rebound with a win in Tampa tomorrow
They have been but this performance was horrendous, it was like watching men vs boys

I'm hoping it's just a one off but if we see Florida in the playoffs there going to come at us head on again, we need a way to deal with it

It's time for a change

Florida is not going away in the next number of year.

Mathews Marner and MO no show even the last Florida game until the 3rd the were a no show

Iam not bring up Willy because it's the first time that he was a no show in a long time.

lol And bots like you are representing the other end of the spectrum, blindly thinking the team is going to win the cup every year. That's what other fans have been laughing at us about for 5 decades.

The biggest fraud in the NHL is Morgan is an elite defender, he's so elite that they have struggled for over a decade to find someone who can support him, at a certain point you need to start to think maybe it's not his partner that is the problem. The guy has always been a shit defender with a touch of offence, he skates really well, thinks the game extremely poorly and desires to be a forward. He needs to play bottom pairing sheltered minutes. He will be the difference in at least one game in the 1st round, and not the difference in a good way.

This game, in the big scheme of things matters not, if you need home ice to win a series, you will eventually run up against a team that was better than you and has home ice, so you will eventually fail. After tonight's game, you need to start resting players to get them to as close to 100% as you can get. Start with Matty, rest him for the rest of the season, sit, Willie, sit Stolarz (he will be the 1st round starter), sit Morgan cause he sucks - maybe he needs some press box reflection, sit as many players as the cap will allow you to sit.

No, I think you still push for the division. Game 7 in Toronto vs. TB could be huge.

Amazing is a word, bad hockey are other words to describe that, the fact there is a new coach and he has not addressed that lazy loser hockey mentality is a statement in itself. When they poke check the puck carrier at the blue line and then go for a 20 foot button hook fly-bye instead of stopping on the puck ....drives me nuts. It's insane that the same lazy shit, bad hockey that kids/players were doing 30 , 40 years ago, they are still doing today. I remember back in the 90's when Pat Burns was coaching the Leafs, the Leafs were doing 3 things that Burns commented on frequently that drove him nuts

1) Turning the puck over at the blue line

2) Fly-by's and then going for that 20 foot button hook, instead of stopping on the puck

3) Flamingo poke checks

This team does all three in Spades...

Winning Hockey is winning hockey be it, the equipment and conditioning may have changed over the years, but in the last 50 years, doing the fundamentals the right way, has not changed one little bit.
