Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 3-1

It wasn’t just one game.
It was the same as the playoffs last year.
They can’t handle that hard forecheck.
Even tanev was being trapped and turned the puck over.

I said "shoot more Nylander!". Not "dont shoot at all nylander!".

But when the second line suck the first make up for it, on a good team.

Don't bother. All of the drama queens are out tonight.
If it were another team I'd agree, but we've seen this movie happening for like a decade now and some people are just grounded in reality that the Leafs are going to have an uphill fight to go anywhere in the playoffs when they're up against a team that plays them tough like the Panthers.

The whole blaming an individual for what this team does all too often is pretty feeble. Better than accepting reality though if it’s too ugly for individuals to process.
Not that he hasn’t been awful because he most certainly has.
Sorry to say but the bottom line is the team is flawed.
It is what it is.
We can say it is a team sports….but at the end of the day, your best players need to not only be the best players on your team but also the best players in the game and in the series.

Every teams are flawed in their own way. Just so happened one of the major flaws of the Leafs is we have a whole bunch of Beta chokers playing and getting paid like an Alpha.

I agree, this board is just super bipolar, that was all I was illustrating.

A win tomorrow and this board will think the Leafs are the best again.
Maybe the will be, for that night lol

I am a part of the bipolar gang, but I do try to focus on the game and not the big picture... which is so hard with this team considering all the failures they have achieved.

I mean, this game does nothing to convince me this team is going to do anything in the playoffs, nor will a win tomorrow for that matter.

Don't bother. That poster said this team is going to win the cup in June.

What the f are they feeding those Panthers..?!?!? That is the most relentless hockey team in the NHL. It's actually superhuman to be doing it for 3 years straight now too.

I'm saying it ain't just Ekblad on the roids. They all are.

Not a fan of Nylanders game tonight.
Looked like he’d rather had been somewhere else
I find it hard to single anyone out, but he was not "flying".

I thought Matthews was way worse, in the sense that he was in position to make plays and never did. He was abysmal. I can't comment on Marner because I am not sure he actually played. JT scored, so gets a pass from me, but was similar to Matthews except rather than turn pucks over he was just unable to finish. The list goes on down the lineup...

Toronto has qualified for the playoffs, won 4 straight (until tonight), and are ok. You'd never know it though...

I didn’t like what I saw tonight, but I’m nowhere near being in the “these guys are toast” camp. I know they can be a lot more effective against Florida than that turd they laid tonight.

No word of a lie, they literally beat this exact Florida team less than one week ago in a game that looked pretthy similar to this one. It's almost like playing at home makes a difference.

Fair point, our record is pretty decent against them this year....oh wait
The next time a team's regular season record against another team has any predictive vaue for the playoffs will be the first time. By your logic, Montreal would sweep the Leafs in the playoffs.

Right now, they will have to prove it on the ice that they can beat this Florida team consistently. They have not. I don't care if you lose 2-1 or 5-1. It's a loss just the same. 1-3 against them this season, 1-4 against them in the playoffs in 2023. I don't see them beating Florida in a 7 game series. It's up to the Leafs to prove people wrong.

😂 no he wasn’t ‘flying’. If he didn’t have his -2, his stat line would have been all zeros. He barely had a pulse.

Well, here is hope they were saving some energy for Tampa. Tomorrow’s game looms large. Result is somewhat positive giving FLA some cushion over OTT who also conveniently lost. Just beat Tampa tomorrow to keep A1. On the other hand we can see what FLA can do even in not optimal state. So low expectations = less disappointment. Leafs should really try to find their energy in the third like other teams in playoffs race and play like they mean to win. Tampa is great at home so this would be great test as well.

They can play much better, but games like this are definitely part of their identity. It's obviously concerning.
