Matthews nylander and Tavares all need to be better

Marner has been pointing up points despite Tavares’s best efforts to not score a 5v5 goal or an assist

Nylander needs to stay hot, he did this last year where he was fire the first 30 games, then meh 30 games then good last 20, he needs to continue the good play he has for longer

Matthews just doesn’t look the same, his shot utilization today was poor, but he doesn’t seem as dangerous to completely roof a goal on a goalie, beating them clean beside the ear or top corner.

Today wasnt the greatest, reset and come back against washington

You cannot score less than 3 goals that game

Thought Toronto was fighting the puck a lot tonight, a lot of give aways, not a lot of clean plays made, powerplay was off. Toronto will most definitely have to address that 2nd line winger position at the TDL.

On to Washington.

Just an awful game. Rangers converted, Leafs didn’t. Powerplay was pathetic. Really hope Liljegren isn’t hurt for an extended period but with our luck with injuries he’ll be out a month or more.
Injuries as long as just short term may be helpful to give players like Timmins longer looks.

Seriously that was a close game, can't win em all and both teams barely gave up anything. Shesterkin was better by one goal, Murry .900 not dogshit. Not our best game but rangers were coming out hot and this was not gonna be like the California trip.

If I'm gonna blame anything, that powerplay was putrid...

Time to start a new run. On to the next.

Hope Liljegren is okay... today would've been a good game to have Rielly's transitional play.

Would just love for a healthy defense core and a continued commitment by the forwards to play well defensively. Don't want to fall back into bad habits if our defense gets healthy and forwards think they're okay to cheat more often.

Having said that, today wasn't a bad game besides a few plays. I hope this was just an off game from Timmins because he made some questionable choices.

Everyone was calling the Ducks game a "trap" for the Leafs, but I think this one qualifies. We went up against the worst team in the NHL and had our way against them, then had to turn around and go up against a very tight-checking Rangers team tonight. Add in a little bad luck (pucks bouncing off sticks, ending up in skates, etc.) and some bad special teams play and there goes the winning streak.

ZAC had a "sitter" there and couldn't convert; AM had a glorious opportunity as well. Overall, we didn't give up a lot of chances. The ONLY thing I'm worried about right now is Lilly.

I don't think you quite know what a trap game is

You can’t have your best effort every night, and that night was tonight for us. Kudos to Shertsterkin for a good game. No need to make this into anything other than one simple loss, though the search for a winger that brings something to the table for Tavares and Marner continues.

Shot ourselves in the foot all night and still looked like the better team

Interested to see if we go in a mini funk now given the heater weve been on

Can’t wait till the last 10 mins to turn it on, and Shesterskin was solid. Well deserved loss.

Saw a few lone ranger rushes into the Ranger defensive line in the third period. Looks like they were forcing things a little bit there. Sandin needs a lighter workload on the transition. Tonight he wasn't sharp and highlights why we still need Rielly even though things have been going well without him. Didn't like Timmins too much tonight. He looked scrambly and probably had his most chaotic game as a Leaf.
