VAN defended very hard, no open spaces. If you wanted to get to the scoring areas you really had want it. We got our answer, and it's been the same answer we've always gotten.

on a large sample size it is pretty obvious that it is marner who has to play off the rush because he can't 1) play body, 2) cycle 3) dump and chase

I look at it like an Olympic type break.

Im not overrreacting because of the loss at all but I don’t think this team is a contender. They are slow and their bottom six is not deep to chip in.

The team has never been a cup contender with this version. Just a playoff contender. One win after the first round.

Marner just looked like he had amnesia and had no idea what was going on or how to even handle a puck. Matthews just looked like his feet weren't in the game, he wasn't going to dig in and pucks were rolling away from him.

The Domi era looks like it should come to a close. Max came in last year and played with a nice edge and looked like he could have some nice chemistry with Matthews, but this year it just looks like he just doesn't have it.

Agree with you, as much as everyone hates it, Mitch drives this team's success. He's been way worse than he was tonight, but also did pretty much nothing to drive offence.

In order for that to be the case they would need to have had success in the playoffs. That’s the issue.

No Leafs didn't lose 2-1 tonight.

OEL and one ALONE lost the game.

HE lost it nobody else.

When you take an incredibly stupid penalty that you didn't need to take and it leads to the game winning goal you are SOLELY responsible for the loss.

That's what OEL did. HE lost the game because he took ANOTHER stupid penalty.

He takes a A LOT of those.

Tough to win if you only score one goal.

Right, so I think that is what each of their mentally checked out lazy game looks like.

It was pretty clear that was not an honest effort from most of the guys. But when the top players look that bad it's just more evident and frankly unacceptable.

Games against Ottawa and Vancouver are automatic losses for the Leafs. No matter how good we are and no matter how bad they are, they will always find a way to win against us. They take the games against the leafs very seriously.
