I mean he was especially terrible out there tonight. Every single time he touched the puck it was a turnover.

He's been great lately though.

What's sad is Berube was already cautioning against coming out low energy, and Real Kyper had already talked about that yesterday. Like it was the Titanic slowly coming up to and hitting the trap game with all advanced warning.

We need to do exactly what the Avs did and trade him for a long term return signed to a reasonable cap. Unfortunately he won't waive his NMC.

Otherwise an actual cup contender would bite.

Send him to Keefe. They have plenty of assets and could fit him in under their cap.

I would suggest he was the worst player on the ice... mainly because he has to be so good for our team to look functional.

Mitch lives at the blueline. You don’t need 3 Dmen when you’re in the offensive zone. Playing like that will accomplish nothing come playoff time.

Ottawa's a young up and coming team. We did a good job of hanging with them in their house, moral victory IMO.

Ottawa is a fringe wildcard team with most of their core entering/already well into their mid 20's.

He doesn't care about that, he just wants to be the highest paid player in the league, and "by gum" his dream came true, 13 million times

I think the wild card spots to go BOS, TBY or NYR with one of the previous two getting 3rd in the Atlantic.

Two goals in two games “might” get you a point but only if both are scored in the same game. I know we are short handed, but there’s still enough talent in that line up to score more than a goal. Tre needs to buy Holmberg out or something so Berube can’t use him again.

Marner especially. Just throwing the puck wherever he feels like it without thinking. I know he cares the most on the team but he he still just played really dumb tonight despite being the smartest player in the league.

This is what frustrates me with Matthews. There’s zero intensity to his game. He should be taking over games.

Like I always say, the quality control on Auston Matthews effort is all over the place from game to game. The low effort games are just unwatchable.

I'm kind of numb to this team now. I used to rage but I've come to the conclusion that this group won't win anything of significance so I might as well just enjoy watching hockey and laughing it up on HFBOARDS. It's therapeutic.

He's been great lately though.

A bit of an exaggeration. But I find he does tend to make turn overs when he’s trying to force things and tonight he was definitely forcing. But he wasn’t the worst leaf by any stretch tonight.

I didn't feel like there were any dangerous chances against them.

They could've had Peter Forsberg in the net and still have won.

I thought he was okay. Threw some hits, made some creatively chaos passes but wasn't connecting. McMann looked more assertive than Matthews, who wasn't trucking through center ice as when he was looking 100% earlier last week.

Boring game, bad result, stupid game losing goal, wish I hadn't tuned in!

Yeah definitely agree. McMann was better than Matthews who also really sucked tonight. He deserves a special shout-out too.

Matthews and intensity don't belong in the same sentence. He should stick to golf. I suspect he's getting pretty good at it by now anyway.

You have to keep in mind whenever we play them they're bringing their A++ game. They do a lot worse on a normal Senators night.
