Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose 2-1

Leafs got crushed again. That is a massive loss, Ottawa is going to pass them in the standings and they are going to miss the playoffs.

I know you're being sarcastic, but the Atlantic is still concerningly close.

A decent losing streak and we're definitely not sitting that pretty.

I mean, we still all remember the 18-wheeler season.

A bit of an exaggeration. But I find he does tend to make turn overs when he’s trying to force things and tonight he was definitely forcing. But he wasn’t the worst leaf by any stretch tonight.

It looked like he was trying to sneak the puck through little areas instead of just emphatically playing a big boy game. A lot of broken little touch passes, finger painting shit. But it wasn't that bad overall.

A bit of an exaggeration, sure. He wasn't the worst Leaf, but he was the worst Leaf per dollar.

Yeah definitely agree. McMann was better than Matthews who also really sucked tonight. He deserves a special shout-out too.

Yep. Matthews wasn't really skating that hard, no assertiveness through the neutral zone, and I think he was off the mark all over the ozone, which made Marner's little area plays less effective. Man, what annoys me about Matthews is you put a big boy in there on the wing and he's happy to let that guy do the heavy lift.

If they decide to sign Marner long-term, he'll probably be here longer than Matthews, you'd think they would like to grade him on a different line, especially on a night when 34's filet-o-fishes haven't fully digested, it's like something was written in their contract.

I think we finish top 3 in the division. But I will agree, if there was a team that could do up a nice 18-wheeler it is these clowns. The number of zero-effort games and/or periods these group puts in is eye opening.

Berube said we had to match the Sens emotion. Little did he know they would be bringing no emotion... mission accomplished.

Agreed, I’d say my biggest gripe with Marner tonight is he was at the blue line damn near every shift. We can be having that. You gotta drive the net. He started doing it in the 3rd. But no reason for Marner to be up high on the cycle.

Predictably impotent showing from captain combover. When he loses to the senators in the playoffs he'll officially be the worst playoff performer the history of the sport.

Weird comment. IF we play the Sens in the playoffs and we happen to lose it won’t be just Matthews doing, and even IF that transpired he still wouldn’t be close to the worst playoff performer in history

What happened to the battle of Ontario? Such a boring game. Same story for the past 20+ years. Too bad.
You need to have two willing combatants to have a battle. The Leafs never are up for games against the Senators. They are heinously boring and the result is set in stone before the puck drops. Say what you will about the Brian Burke era Leafs, the one team they didn't let walk all over them was the Sens. Lmao

They are f***ed. The Saturday night game coming up against the Oilers is going to be a beat down. They are going to get blown right out of of the f***ing arena.
