Post-Game Talk: Leafs lay a next-gen egg in a lackluster loss 4-2 to the Senators.

One of them is getting traded next off-season. I think Marner is most likely gone.
If we ever want to have success this core needs to be changed but I don’t see it ever happening. This group just doesn’t care enough and managment are paralyzed with fear of changing them, even Shanny. Until ownership holds his feet to the fire nothing will change

It's funny, we weren't very good at all and still deserved a better fate.

Lots of holes on this roster right now and you really see it with how were deployed. A 3rd line that can't start in its own end, a 4th line that shouldn't. Two AHL D who look the part. Then whatever the hell Lilj and Marner are at the moment

Reactions: leafs in five
A few things really starting to stand out as we head into the middle part of this season, but only the bolded one really matters imo:

- This team's core is an emotionless void
-- Bottom five team in board play (making plays off the boards, winning battles, etc.)
--- Goaltending is a problem overall; Jones doing his best imo
---- On offence, everything is worked to death to create the perfect scoring chance. This HAS to change, but won't with these clowns. What is wrong with wasting a few on net? Ask the Sens and I bet they say nothing.

Back to the emotionless void thought, get creamed by lowlifes in Buffalo, respond with a tight tight defensive game and really cruise to a win. Follow that up with 10 minutes of fire and then 50 minutes of cruising the strip.

As much of a Leafs fan I am, I kinda f***ing hate this incarnation of the team.

I'm scared the thinking with this team from management is still "we're just one piece away" because frankly, we're not.

Don't waste the 1st rounder on that one piece this year, it should be obvious we're 3 even 4 away from competing for a Stanley cup, and those cupboards are pretty bare.

It's time to admit the team needs to change the allocation of money from front loaded on offense, to a better spread throughout the team. This is the same attempt every year with a few minor tweaks, it doesn't work. We need to just admit it and change the dynamic of the team.

I counted 3 times where Nylander looked off Matthews for a wide open one-timer tonight
2 were clean 1 wasn’t the easiest play to make but I like that he’s being aggressive keeps the defence honest

One of those games. Sens got lucky (third goal) and we were extremely unlucky (open nets). But really unhappy with Nylander lackadaisical play. Marner continues with his failed fancy passes in our losses. Third string goalie, stars didn’t show up, lack of effort when up by two, and you have another loss to a bottom dweller. Disappointing.

I would’ve loved to see that. They would have gone running home crying to their mamas after training camp if we did. Keefe is way too soft on these guys.
At least Torts can make any team competitive and really difficult to play against. With our talent maybe we would’ve got a good couple years.

I firmly believe Keefe is out of time here. You simply cannot put forth these kinds of games constantly and let it be acceptable

They will fire Keefe if they do not get to ECF and use him as the scapegoat to run it back down our throats one more time.

This. So much. And lots of us have been saying this for a few years now.
