Leafs core 4:

Matthews, Tavares, marner, Rielly.

Putting Rielly in that group seems incongruous.

He should should really be in the Tier 2 group:
Rielly, Nylander, Bertuzzi and Brodie.
Which means M&M are the core of this team then cause jt is only still here cause we can’t get rid of him

I wonder if the Kings will hand our Leafs asses to them.

Which team shows up, Leafs Loser or Leaf try harder's ???

Looking forward to the end of the holiday season and so are the Leafs.

Deep in to the weeds as I close of a full day off (supposedly) adulting in Great Wolf Lodge with the family, Leafs flip the script with a great game and win 'er.

Their next 5 games are LA, Anaheim, San Jose, San Jose and the Islanders (who are back to struggling again, having just lost twice in a row to Pittsburgh). I'm not sure why LA seems to play so poorly at home, but I expect the Leafs to get a good number of points in these 5 games.
Lol. Didn’t you guarantee that the Leafs were going to be in 1st place in the Atlantic by the end of December?

Last game against the Kings the Leafs got thoroughly outplayed if I recall. Kings have A+ center depth so Leafs will need to bring it on all lines. If they can snag a win it would be a huge momentum builder for the rest of the westcoast swing.

The Kings are very good - maybe the best even strength puck possession team in the league. Big, fast, smart, compete hard, give you zero time/space. Kopitar, Danault, PLD and Lizotte is one of the best centre rotations in the league, lots of good wingers too (Kempe, Fiala, Byfield, Moore, Kaliyev, etc.), and their D and goaltending is unsexy but effective. This is going to be a tough matchup.

I'm a 50 year old coward. I keep rescheduling the appointment.
Haha.

I did the same thing with an impacted Wisdom Tooth. Just kept rescheduling. Not sure what trauma happened as a child but I have an irrational fear of the dentist.

I played football with a broken arm, hockey with a broken foot, but I squirm and moan like a toddler in the dentist' chair

Got to catch some other teams over my holiday break from work.

The NHL is dying and they need to figure something out fast.

The "watered down" league is no joke. The cap rarely rising puts the nail in the coffin.

Leafs winning once in 6 games is not a big deal. That's the new NHL for you.

Any team between 1-8 has the same odds to win the Cup if you ask me.

It's going to come down to which team doesn't die before they win 16 games. Need a team of warriors that won't quit. The days of caring of who wins the Presidents Trophy is over. It's meaningless.

Exact same for me. But this also goes to my general disdain for the Canadian medical/dental system. If something can continue to be done in an antiquated way, our medical/dental system will ensure we stay as outdated as possible. New procedures being developed in the US? Nope, not doing that here. We're going to instead cut tissue from the roof of your mouth. Like taking skin from one arm to cover a burn on the other arm.

Nah, you just assume that I do. You won't find any posts of me boasting about "guaranteed" wins against Buffalo or Carolina last week. But, yes, there are some games that I do expect will be certain wins, like against San Jose. I would say the same thing when Boston or Vegas plays San Jose. Those should be guaranteed wins for the better teams. LA is a tough one to get a handle on because of how poor they seem to play at home. It's the kind of game the Leafs should lose, and then they end up winning it.
Like I said, you've stopped guaranteeing your predictions all the time, that's progress. It's always Leafs win though, Leafs will take over 1st in January, Leafs will take over 1st in December, Leafs will win blah blah blah.

Did the fact that Leafs dropped to 3rd instead teach you anything? Are ready to admit it was foolish to guarantee we'd take over 1st place in January? If not, then you haven't really learned anything.

Hard to believe that a decade ago NBA cap (not factoring in luxury tax) was the same as the NHL. Now NBA cap is ~60%+ higher than the NHL and on top of that they also get the luxury tax option which NHL has no concept of. Truly embarrassing. NHL is a premier league that chooses to behave like it's third tier.

I wish the California trip happened last week during the xmas break. 23:30 start on a week night means I only get to watch the first 30 minutes or so.

Oh well... Time to turn this ship around!

LA is a strong team with solid 2 way centres. Leafs need to play one of their best games to make it out with points. Thinking Leafs top 2 lines get shut down and it will be up to the 3rd and forth line to get this done. Oh and goaltending.. we need good goaltending.

You say the same thing no matter who we play. For example, I remember you booking 2 points against Boston before we played them.

You also guaranteed that the Leafs would take over 1st place in the division by the end of the year, instead we slipped to 3rd.

Anyhow least you're not guaranteeing anything this time re. the next 5 games, that's progress. We'll see what happens.

He sounds like he might be a fan

I feel like historically this is the time of the schedule where the Leafs start to get a little color on their skin and tend to treat this west coast trip more as a vacation rather then a business trip. Will be interesting to see if that changes following the 0-2-1 stretch after Xmas. My guess is no.

I would love to be proved wrong on that, although I am not expecting to be.

I could see that. A 2-1 snorefest. That would be sweet.

I wish I had done the same. My dentist at the time said he didn't think they would ever be an issue but left it up to me.

Poor decision
