Peg fans, help me here, please. According to Capfriendly you've already commited 20+M to a dcore without bringing Trouba into the fold. Is this how you want to structure your salary situation? I get that Trouba is a 'keeper' but what do you folks see as being equitable return for someone who might be 'tradeable'?
That "tradeable" piece is not Trouba, nor do we need to discuss this in this thread so it doesn't get derailed.
When you think about it, we have Laine, Ehlers and Connor as locks to be in the NHL lineup, all on their ELCs for the next two (Ehlers) years, or three years (Laine, Connor). When their deals expire, Enstrom and Myers also come off the books, so the timing is good enough to not have to worry too much.
However, trading Myers for a good expansion draft exempt defensive prospect is something that I would personally be willing to do, IF Morrissey can show that he's able to handle the NHL well enough. Who that prospect is, that's a question which everyone probably answers differently. I'd look at Philadelphia and specifically Sanheim or Morin, but since everything I usually get as an answer is Hagg or a forward prospect, there's probably no deal there. And by the way, we need defense, and defense only. So trading any of our best defensemen makes no sense in the first place, but a cheaper option for Myers wouldn't hurt.
