if we remove the retention then we need to include Mrazek. you guys have any expensive guys on LTIR who's contracts are not insured? I bet we would be willing to take on any cash we can bury and save your owner some cash.
Can't say we've got interest in mrazek, and I'm not sure what management thinks of Spencer Martin, but many of us would like to see him as a cheap backup for next year.

We do have the Ferland ltir, although I'm not keen to how all that works exactly, so not sure if it helps.

I'm still skeptical that the Canucks are really selling all these players. It seems like their GM is screwing everyone around. A team in the playoff hunt selling all these guys off? I'm trying to remember a time when that happened.

I think it comes down to if the contract is fully insured, partially insured or not insured at all. As far as your cap having Ferland on LTIR doesn't really hurt but if the contract is not insured then the owner has to pay it all out of pocket and for some owners thats unacceptable. However for Toronto it gives an ability to flex some financial muscle and also help out an other owner.
I have seen the leafs do this before to push a deal over the top.

Right side set so not sure this makes much sense for the leafs. Unless Muzzin is going to be out a while and Keefe wants to shift Brodie to the left.

Right side is not set at all. Holl is 5 packs of ass. Liljegren is a player that keeps going in and out of the lineup.

Leafs need a physical player on the back end

Brodie, Holl, Bush.

Highly doubt Holl’s going anywhere mid season regardless of how we feel about him.

Holll doesn't need to go anywhere. He's gonna be scratched. Schenn is a better player. Holl is ass. There's a reason Dubas is looking for defenseman

He’s looking for a d man cause Muzzin is out and the kids aren’t ready to play top 4. Holl is trusted especially on the pk and won’t be scratched.

To me, the opportunity to acquire Schenn was instead of a guy like Lyubushkin.

I think the Leafs need to do more than "fix the mix" by acquiring similar calibre defencemen of differing styles. I think they've gotta acquire a legitimate top 4 guy.

Holl should be our 7th D going into playoffs, and to make that happen we need a major upgrade in the top 4 RHD department. Schenn is not that piece IMO

Well if Dubas is holding on to firsts and top prospects...Toronto's not keeping up with the buying spree.
Thank god. This team is more than a defenseman away from completing the masterpiece.

That being said, I would love if Dubas would somehow replace Holl with Schenn, Holl needs a fresh start and I view Schenn as someone who can do for Sandin on the 3rd pair, what Hainsey did for Reilly.

Perhaps he could, but I promise you won't like the price if you're a Leafs fan.

Boston adds Lindholm.
Florida adds Chiarot and Giroux.
Tampa adds Hagel.

Toronto wants to add... Schenn. WTF.

From afar, I feel like that market would be content with just a playoff series win. That would buy some time for the people running a club that doesn't look dynastic, as was initially hoped for.

In the NHL, any team is capable of beating any other team in a 7 game series, Leafs included. Winning all 16 games is what separates the truly great from the rest.

Curious as to what the Leafs will do now with Kase getting injured
Hopefully nothing. Do people not understand that Tampa is more then likely our first round opponent, this isn't columbus, Montreal or even Boston, its the lightening. We have maybe a 5% chance to win. All these little bandaid players for a 3rd aren't going to make any kind of difference. They should win or lose with what they have and stop wasting assets.

Adding schenn to this leafs team is like holding up a loin cloth in a rainstorm to stay dry, considering we most likely play Tampa in round one. He will improve our chances 0 % against that team. Best to save assets fire Management after the first round loss and retool in the offseason.

Everyone has known for three or four years that the leafs need playoff style defensemen but the only one they’ve gotten in Muzzin. And his health is unreliable now. Who’s left now? Chrychrun? Giordano? Any other makers? At this point they’re going to have to overpay.

Schenn (and Maroon) were big unsung heroes to Tampa's cup imho. They prevented them from getting pushed around.
