how is it possible that a team that has the all mighty Karlsson could be -36? he should make this team and the player around him better. One player doesnt make a team, this team is flawed and it doesnt matter if we have the best d-man in the world, he cant make this team a winner. giving him 10M a season would be a waste of money because the Sens will still be a bad team.

You obviously have a bias against Karlsson.

Can't believe you're dissing a two-time Norris winner who is considered an elite, top-5 player in the game by most, because he's having a bad year on a bad team. You sound like a Leafs fan.

...where did you hear that?

It was on the CBC Headlines intermission. It is significant because in a previous interview Dorion himself has claimed he doesn't like to get involved that way, and if I recall his example was he only went down previously at the start of the season.

I don't want to butcher it, but I am pretty sure they said the players responded back to him.

It explains Dorion's mood and comments about "players who want to be here" or "don't want to be here" (forget the exact wording) on his TSN1200 interview after the Blues loss.

Boucher is the true tank commander.

If Dorion turns around and fires Boucher the first day of the off season, that's some House Of Cards Machiavellian ****.
I'm not hopeful for the tank.

The way luck goes with this team they will go on a late season surge to secure a nice 11th overall pick for Colorado

I kinda agree the team is flawed but letting Karlsson go in a trade is just dumb and will make us suck for a long time.
even if we keep Karlsson we will suck for a long time, might as well trade him and start a real rebuilt. And Karlsson doest want to stay here, he knows that this team is flawed and we never win until we have new owner(s).

So apparently dorion went into the dressing room and had a confrontation with the players. Which intermission tho is my question.
Uh oh. Never a good sign when the GM confronts the team.
Of course if Eugene is in the house he may have pinned Dorions ears back.

We're getting Dahlin. All you gotta do is send out positive vibes to the universe and it responds.
The question I'd ask is do we even take Dahlin or trade down? Between Karlsson and Chabot we have 2 elite offensive D. Snagging a top 5 (pick) forward and a roster player may be more valuable to this team.

Just a thought though

Karlsson played the best hockey of his career on one foot. Let that sink in.

Long term, so long as he buys in and is willing has all the tools to adjust his game to remain an elite player long after his physical gifts begin to fade.
well right now i wouldn't call his play elite and the problem is his toolbox doesn' have the same set of tools.

Or you know .... he recovers, practices in the off season, and Sens fans bash there heads against the wall for the next 10 years with this guy dominating the league because we gave up on him

I'm all for tanking this season since our playoff chances are hopeless for a re-tool. But **** a complete rebuild for the next 5 years .... See how much it's worked for Edmonton. We get a bottom 5 pick this year ... get rid of some plugs (Phaneuf, Ryan, Smith) etc , bring up some young guys and a complete rehaul of management.

Yeah, because getting rid of Phaneuf and Ryan is so easy to do.

**** Dorion. He's largely responsible for this mess. Of course he probably thinks he's a genius and can't comprehend how his awesome trades haven't worked out though...

Karlsson played in the WCOH which shortened his off season.

He then played the 16-17 regular season under an intensive system.

He was then hurt and played 19 playoff games, multiple games going to OT on one foot.

The Senators and Karlsson are now playing a completely messed up regular season schedule due to the Sweden trip.

He's had a very condensed 1.5 years of hockey and is getting over a major injury that he most likely came back too early from. To make judgements that Karlsson is no longer elite is short sighted. This does not absolve him of responsibility for his level of play, but there's an overwhelming amount of evidence pointing to this current season being an anomaly for Karlsson.

You may be the best poster here. You know why? You’re not overly dramatic and emotional and you actually put thought into what you write. Can’t say the same for too many others around here.
