If Toronto is paying Knies plus a first they are planning on trying to resign Lindholm and will move out even a player like Nylander to do it in the offseason.

Yah I think that other Duck fan was just pointing out scenarios that could be Lindholms asking price. But I wanted an honest perspective of Lysell + First from Boston being a possible trade scenario for Lindholm

Age is almost entirely irrelevant with rental's, if he is playing at a top 4 level now he will be for the rest of the season

I'd argue the last two rentals the Leafs made (Plekanec and Foligno) failed miserably because they took an older vet long past their prime based on what they'd done years prior.

Gio could be a good add for the Leafs, but I think Chiarot/Lindholm would have been much better.

Leafs are easy to play against in the playoffs because their stars think they can dangle, dipsy doodle, through teams in the playoffs. Having a Chiarot or a Lindholm won’t win them a series until those guys start to get “it”. They don’t. That’s why I am weary of giving up prime time assets.

I understand the point you are making, but how and when do you expect them to 'get it'? Do they need better coaching? More veteran leadership in the room? What is the solution here?

Hopefully Toronto gets outbid on all these players. The worst trades are always the deadline moves. Awful.

If Anaheim did take back mrazek how hard would it be for Toronto to clear the space… without moving nylander/marner?

In my opinion the money would come from kerfoot, holl and dermott. We are lucky to have some good young players ready to make the jump next season.

Tbh I want to keep Kerfoot this season he's been great, creeping up on 50 points with 0 PP time

Pretty much all cup winners have made deadline moves? Tampa has traded like three 1sts or equivalent the last couple years to win?

Kerfoot is a great utility player. But a bit overpaid for that roll.
He can play in our top 6 but as a whole our second line hasn’t been great this year. He kills penalties and he can fill in at center if someone gets hurt. I certainly won’t be unhappy if we keep him but I won’t be disappointed if he is moved for an upgrade at 2nd line LW either.

Leafs Twitter fan page says Giordano wants to play for the leafs.... Shocker.

Leafs should really not be mortgaging any future for this season.

yes they should you have Matthews playing at the peak of his powers. Marner is also playing at the peak of his powers, same thing with Rielly, or damn close to it, Bunting is leading all rookies in points and goals

the PP and PK are elite

they just needc to add a goalie that can give them a save if they can do that they can beat anybody.

now is the time

This. Adding a better defenceman or two isn't going to make the forward core suddenly know how to play playoff hockey.

Kneeordano would be about as useful as Foligno was last year. Hard pass.

They need to be going after guys like Sam Bennett last year
