Couldn't agree more. Seems like Dubas and Keefe are more concerned about not hurting anyone's feelings as opposed to doing what's best for the team. Unfortunately, I don't think that changes unless either both of them are gone or you make a bold move and shake up the roster and show the players that no one is safe and it's not going to be a country club attitude again.
I agree, but I don’t believe it will be Dubas and Keefe doing it. I feel Dubas is prepared to go down with this ship rather than admit he was wrong. And as far as the country club atmosphere, I totally agree. It’s so wrong!

I agree, and the worst part is, I don't think Shanahan would do it either which means, it'll have to be all 3 to get the boot but before that happens I can definitely see a major roster shake up. When both Dubas and Shanahan come out and say they're not trading any of the core 4, those guys become comfortable knowing that their current effort levels are good enough for management. If Dubas were to come out and say, we have to look at every guy in that dressing room and determine who's willing to go to war for this team, then maybe you'd see some guys have a different attitude, and if they didn't, then those are the guys you ship out, and yes that includes Matthews.

This exactly
The players have their big fat contracts and full management backing despite years of failure. It's cozy

Seriously?! Accountability maybe?! Maybe instead if doubling down with the core they at least say their exploring all options? You think Boston keeps these guys around if it wasn't working and they don't compete when it matters?!
Failure after failure is tolerated here

They are not going to say they are exploring all of their options. Especially when it comes to their core. If it comes out, it won't be from the Leafs themselves. As it should be. Short of absolutely committing to moving on from a guy like Marner, their position should be that they are sticking with them 100%.

I am not opposed to the Leafs making changes. Even large changes if they are the right moves to make. I am opposed to them making the wrong changes or making rash decisions based around a bunch of noise. They made a lot of wrong decisions after that CBJ series, especially going after things that a lot of HFLeafs fans wanted. Let's not do that again.

Plus, may be an unpopular opinion but the millennials have had it harder than any generation since WW2.

*Gen-X, who were literally shoved aside so the Baby Boomers could hold on for an extra 20 years and are now being screamed at to "fix" all the problems the Boomers left say hi*

Teams will still cover Matthews/Mitch before they would cover Dougie shooting from the blueline. It really would not change the dynamic all that much besides seeing our defenseman take twice as many shooting opportunities with only a small uptick in the overall scoring rate. I don't think giving Marner a big PP point shot is going to fix his major short comings, especially one with Hamilton's track record.

If we adjust Hamilton to the amount of shooting opportunities Rielly takes, he would have 14 career PP goals. Rielly has 10. How much more are you willing to pay Hamilton to put up 4 extra PP goals over an 8.5 year NHL career, especially since his shot is one of his most defining features. I don't think he is a better puck mover or skater than Rielly (if anything, he is worse). So you would need to hope he can bring a lot defensively, and there are not major criticisms thrown his way in that regard too.

I think those are all valid concerns, I also think that you can adjust for Marners tendencies by deploying him differently. Matthews is one of the better "tippers" on the Leafs, I think having Dougie's shot, makes that element of Matthews game that much better. You can get away from Marner's dipsy doodling by putting him on the 2nd unit PP, that then opens up Matthews and Dougie for a different look on the 1st unit PP.

Rielly is not the best defender either, he's is more of a ver good skater/puck mover, than a pure raw defensive defender. From a defensive aspect he is probably the 3rd or 4th best defender on the Leafs, with the best ability to move the puck. This year with the expansion draft there will be more opportunities to upgrade our back end.

Picking up a UFA defender that has similar production to Rielly, trading Rielly for assets, IMO is a gain for the Leafs. This team has done such a poor job getting assets for UFA's over the last year + poor job in trading away picks, plus walking our stars to UFA status, in a few years our team is going to have very few options from a development aspect. Leo walked, Bozak walks, JVR walks, Hainsey walked, Barrie walked, Hyman probably walks, Andersen probably walks, if Rielly walks for nothing this might be the last straw for me with this team.

They are trying to bring in what the core lacks - character, toughness, grit, professionalism. That's a bit of a problem right there. And what noise? Fans sick and tired of half-assed efforts in the biggest games of the year and the same excuses? Shanny talks about these guys and how they're deeply, deeply committed to winning and then talks about lacking killer instinct, grit, how they need to stand up for eachother etc. Doesn't sound like they're deeply committed to anything. Not even starting games on time or rising up in games like when Tavares when back to NY.
People are so scared about "the wrong trade" or that Mitch's value is too low right now - reacting out of fear. They'd rather hope this core can get their shit together and somehow change their DNA.

100%.
Both him and Shanny showed their hand at this years press conference. A day after another playoff blunder (4 in a row) and they already admitted they wanted everyone back. You dont do that. A smart exec would say, we will evaluate everything and see where we went wrong.

Both Dubas and Shanny should be fired now. But what will happen is, MLSE will give them another 2 years, and then likely the same outcome, then they will get canned
