Oh man! I haven't watched the young gunz all that much this season. Great pick up by Dubas to iron out character of team.
Good luck boys!
Good luck boys!
You sure do. That quiet confidence, not sure I can say I've seen a Maple Leaf player give off that kind of vibe since Gilmour. Makes me feel optimistic about the playoffs in a way I haven't been since ... well maybe ever since I started watching in the early 70s. I mean even with Gilmour we basically went on a Cinderella run whereas winning the cup with this group really wouldn't be much of a surprise. One game and I feel the same. Imagine by season end and playoffs.
While It wont happen I actually see him as our captain. JT is a quiet leader, but looking at the 2 of them on the bench you just get a different vibe from O'REILLY.
That's the key isn't it? If it's just those two, that won't get it done. But if it rubs off on the others, watch out! They remind me of Roberts and Corson. Just business and serious.
I think they will rub it off to the boys.
Engvall arguably had his best game of the season and not bc he scored or assisted but the way he played.
ZAR was jumpy and alive.
You can also see the frustration from our top guys when they don’t score on a great chance.
Even Matty was mixing it up with the Habs D.
Acciari is a very important player for us IMO. I don't care what anyone says, finishing your checks goes a long way in the playoffs! And again, if some of what he brings rubs off on the others, that would be huge.I thought Tavares-O'Reilly-Marner formed a really good line for not even having ever practiced together. Tavares actually looked pretty good being able to get in on the forecheck more. And Acciari was solid all night, hits, plays smart, got 5 shots on the net too. Himself and ZAR really help the makings a defensively responsible 4th line that finishes their checks.
This felt....Oddly sexual.I hope Keefe goes 3Cs deep tonight.
I liked the look of ROR as a 2C with JT on the wing, but I feel like they’ll be better served in the playoffs with 3 lines that can compete with any offensively and defensively.
Not really. First round pick is a first round pick. I find it hilarious when people say a late first is more like an early second.1st round picks really need to be broken down into groupings, like the difference between 1-5 in the first round and 25-32 is astronomical compared to the gap between 33-38 and 58-65. The gap of 6-10 to 25-32 is massive too. Like, if you draft any player 1-5 or even 6-10 and they aren't capable of 200 games you screwed up on a massive level barring some sort of tragic unforeseen circumstance (Luc Bourdon for example).
Any centre could play with Marner or Nylander. Seems like a weird take.ROR gives the Leafs a bit more versatility in that he could play with Marner or Nylander if they needed to mix the lines up. They can also load manage Tavares more.

Well, a late first is more like an early second than an early first, that's for sure. Not really. First round pick is a first round pick. I find it hilarious when people say a late first is more like an early second.
Been thinking about that,, but it seems really unlikelyWhat are the chances Muzzin starts on ice training next month and is off LTIR to start the playoffs becoming the late season D addition?
So there's a substantial drop-off from 32 to 33, and before Seattle joined the drop-off magically occurred from 31 to 32?Not really. First round pick is a first round pick. I find it hilarious when people say a late first is more like an early second.

Like three lines that can penetrate opposing zoneThis felt....Oddly sexual.

Better off in his hands than average GM, sure. He's not the only GM that drafts well though, and the fact that he drafts well doesn't mean that he should never trade any picks. The reality is that there is a real, steady valuation to draft picks on aggregate. And if we're to believe Dubas is a great drafter (I hear this often), then wouldn't a late-first be better off in his hands than another team's?
Apparently not, this year anyway!
Why do you even care? Your POV seems to be that Dubas is a moron, the team sucks and so on so what difference does it make?I think a 2nd line of ROR/JT should be worked out in practice for a bit.
No need to mess with JT's mojo in game-situations right now, IMO.

Why would I be upset? I'm just wondering if the team is going nowhere like you seem to think, what difference do the line combos make?Well. I like Keefe and most Leafs coaches that comes through our organization, and I don't mind offering an honest opinion on the lines from time to time.
I'll be sure to ask for your permission before I discuss a lineup decision next time, though. I'm detecting you're a little upset at me?![]()
If you are talking about likely outcomes of a where a player is picked. The disparity between the likely outcomes for a guy picked in the top 10 and a guy picked 25-32 is significantly different than the gap between 25-32 and 33-45.Not really. Acciari will henceforth be known as "cookie."
In a matter of one game, oreilly seemed to assume the captaincy of this team. He was leading that on ice powerplay discussion/meeting, he was in the middle of the line scuffle after the whistle, his post game speech was serious, gracious, confident and motivational.
Exactly what this team needs.
We got ROR under 2 million… if that post shot goes in tonight, maybe we’re talking about his first goal and a different game.We wasted majority of our trade capital on a forward over 30 not named Patrick Kane.
Lol
Meier, Horvat, game breaker Kane....nope, we want RoR for the past accolades hype. Should have fixed the defence with those assets if it wasn't Horvat or Kane.

He’s going to be a force in the playoffs.
The value of ROR isn't going to be on full display playing Chicago of all teams 48 hours after his trade here.
Not to mention Kane also looked like absolute trash the last time the Leafs played them.
Both guys from the event trade have looked good so far..still obviously adjusting but chances have been there and there's definitely a physical edge to their game. Not much to complain about imo
Absolutely. But that won't stop the ridiculous takes. The value of ROR isn't going to be on full display playing Chicago of all teams 48 hours after his trade here.
Yes, 8000 km of flights and 2 games all within 25 hours means he's done.Another wasted 1st round pick by Dubas. ROR is done, nothing left in the tank.
