They're playing their B team? This should get ugly.
As long and it doesn't get ugly for Matt Murray, then everything will be OK.

Leafs keep sheltering him in the preseason against weak opposition, eventually they will need to see him against NHL competition.

Hopefully one of the last 2 games that happens.

Between practice, Ottawa, Montreal, and Detroit how can they see him against anyone else?

They aren’t sheltering him. They play a bunch of crap teams in exhibition and can’t control who the other team dresses.
I’m sure the would love for him to get a tough test.

Could be a problem when the regular season begins, because Toronto has been putting out an NHL defense in front of AHL level competition to make sure he is well insulated.

Today's game is a big one for those Leafs on the bubble trying to earn NHL jobs, and Leafs goalie to show he in prepping for a big bounce back season.

Its true they can't control who the opposition puts out there but the goalie is always in the spotlight when it comes to make the saves he should be making regardless of competition, particularly when it comes to confidence. Leafs beat Ottawa the other day but Samsonov's wandering and play let in a pair of soft goals that were somewhat concerning. I'm sure that was addressed by Leafs management and coaching afterwards.

Its not the final score its the play of the players that is being monitored closely from these exhibition games as prep for the real season ahead. IMO.

Huge opportunity for Nick tonight. Will either grab it and run with it, or leave some doubt/hard decisions on the coaches plate. I like that he's skating with Kerfoot though, because imo that's the balance we need going forward. People get hung up on "Robertson needs to be in the top 6" or "he's not a bottom 6 guy"...but imo what we've lacked come playoff time before is no scoring outside of our top 6/ top duos of Matthews-Marner and Tavares-Nylander. I think having that followed up by Robertson-Kerfoot could be huge. Speedy players, offensive talent, ones a shooter and ones a playmaker. Forward lines if Robertson is ready to take a spot should be (imo)
Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Engvall-Tavares-Nylander
Robertson-Kerfoot-Jarnkrok
ZAR-Kampf-NAK

Tonight means very little. Habs lineup should have twice the pop of ours if they have any pride. This is our vets getting their conditioning and timing in order. The Habs lineup are fighting to make any impression they can for a team they know is not competing and can offer depth jobs when injuries occur to mediocre prospects.

The only important thing about Murray's game tonight is that he finishes it healthy.

Montreal finished last overall last season and so even with an NHL roster this would be low level competition for a Leafs team.

Leafs have some big guns dressed tonight, and a core 4 on D and likely their starting goalie, so we should see a lot of puck possession and domination with a heavily tilted ice in Leafs favour in this one.

We're all hoping for a healthy season from Murray. :crossfing, but probably shouldn't expect more than 15-20 shots against tonight, with only a few of the difficult variety perhaps, and the rebuonds taken care of by the defense.

On paper it should be a nice easy warm up game for Murray. Big game for some of the bubble players like Robertson and Malgin to continue to push for NHL jobs.

It’s practice, they’re trying to get in shape.

The only concern is will he make it to next week and apparently he’s going to try and play 60 minutes tonight.

If we all keep teaching, he will learn eventually.
