I like the way they played last year. They're not playing that way this year. Now go back to your desk in the Leafs front office and write another Magnum Opus, k.

Ah...So...You don't have an actual argument. You're just, like...ranting and offended...Gotcha.

You know Buffalo isn't that far from Toronto? And their HFb section could use a good tantrum now and then given their situation.

The way they played last year was fun to watch, I certainly don't miss all the blown leads though. I'm sure we'll settle on a happy medium of last years offense and this years defense.

They corrected the blown leads problem late in the season last year. Alas now it seems to be back. Scoring one goal a game isn't a winning formula.

Its painful seeing such a horrible post.. Babcock did not tell anyone to not to score, he just shows them how to play some defence. If playing reliably defensively means you can no longer score then maybe you arent so offensively talented after all. Maybe you should start complaining about the players instead of the coach. The lack of goal scoring is due to Nylander/Marner sophomore slumps and a young team learning to play real hockey.
how to play defense? The Leafs have given up the second most shots on goal in the entire league....plus our creativity is gone with the dump and chase, speed gone with offensive zone entries, speed gone with quick short passes exiting the defensive zone with useless stretch passes... blaming the drop off in scoring on sophomore slumps is a cop out. this is not real hockey its garbage hockey and its showing game after game.

We get that he said there would be pain. What you don't get is that he's the cause of it.
Correct, Coaches can have a great effect on the game. This isn't a revelation.

I agree with what Doug McLean just said, if it wasnt for Andersen we would be below .500 after the first 10 games the way the team is playing.

I challenge you to find more then a couple teams that could lose their starting goalie and not be significantly worse. This is one of the dumbest arguments in hockey IMO.

The only example I can think of where a team won a championship in spite of its goaltending was the 2010 Blackhawks, and that was only because Philly had even worse goaltending.

When teams win, the goaltender is ALWAYS mentioned as a key part.

I agree, but the point is that our team D still sucks and Babcock has not improved that one iota. He is steadfast on playing this grinding style but the team still gives up lots of great chances anyway.
