Ice time is privilege not a right and it needs to be earned. Willie and Mitch need to stop ice dancing around the perimeter of the ice and go to the net more. Maybe then they will get more ice time.

Yup, going to the net sure helps Komarov. 2 primary points in the last 56 games and on pace for one of the worst offensive season (per ice time) in Leafs history

why, Hyman?
as Nith has pointed out countless times, he's doing very well in his role this year, and a lot of his extra minutes is coming from penalty kill which we draw more than powerplays.

I am a devout Hyman detractor but I do see what he does well. My only gripe with him is that that is better suited for for a third line role where he can be an energy forechecker. Not on a line with our franchise C.

If you genuinely believe that his system isn't castrating offence, I don't know what games you are watching.

See I don't think it's system, because offensively they're quite random. Each line kind of does their own thing.

For me it's the combinations, especially on Matthews' and Kadri's line. Marner's inconsistent play is probably why 2nd line isn't quite as potent.

The line matching/chasing at home is a bit ridiculous as well.

You know Hyman isn't working on the top line when his +/- is +13. The top line is about the only positive things going for the Leafs in all honesty. Start looking at real problems like the fact that Kadri, JVR, Marleau, Komarov, Brown, Moore, Leivo only have 3 more assists or even less then Matt Martin is troubling.

It's the by product of defensive hockey IMO - not sure what the solution is for those players.

Yeah I saw that whole thing, seems like a simplistic answer and time will tell if it affects anything. I'm thinking about that person at a live game yelling "SHOOOOOOOT"

 like i know that seems kinda dumb but i mean i think when you are shooting really low percentage wise, even in a defensive system that's v. low and you just need to generate more shots.

shoot more?
the problem is for a lot of our players, offensive creativity is a big strength for us. telling guys to get the puck on net and look for deflections/rebounds isn't really playing to their strengths imo. we need to generate quality chances and we usually do that pretty well I'd say

that's fair. and i agree
but i also remember that powerplay we had in overtime and all we did was pass. i think too, they need to be able to adjust, right? again not all the time - but if you don't see the fancy - go for the simple.

We get that he said there would be pain. What you don't get is that he's the cause of it.

When Babcock stated that, we were at the beginning of a process. Last season and it's success was part of that process as is this season's ups and downs.

Were you this visible and confident during last season's successes prior to the playoffs and as the big three set markers for rookie achievement? If not, why not?

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully tonight is when the boys start turning it around and go on a bit of a run

They have the ability it's just a matter of getting there heads right and digging in if some adversity strikes

I like the way they played last year. They're not playing that way this year. Now go back to your desk in the Leafs front office and write another Magnum Opus, k.
