Winning the next 2 pretty much puts Calgary out.

I think the 4 teams are pretty much set... but teams can always make big runs... but pressure is all on them.

Sweep them up... let's go Leafs. Play good d and move your feet. A powerplay goal to get rolling again would be nice.

Would love to virtually end Calgary's season over these next two. We started this downfall when Muzzin flipped the puck at Tkachuk and started their inner turmoil, time to finish the job.

If hutch doesn't rock the Potvin tribute mask tonight I might puke. How many games do we have to watch this dude play, Let alone play without giving us the joy of a Potvin tribute bucket? Its not like he's riding a wining streak lol....out with the old hutch, maybe the Felix mask has been the missing piece

I'm about 90% sure he'll add someone. Most likely a top 6 forward. Hopefully it's one of Iafallo, Rakell, or Hall. I think those 3 would make the biggest difference

they have an option of moving hyman to the Matthews line and then trading for a third line player or keep hyman on the third line and trade for a winger for Matthews, I think it all depends on where Dubas/Keefe want to play Hyman at in the line up, so they are in a good position regarding adding a forward,...the tough decision is deciding what to do with the goalie situation, IMO

Haha yup. Can't stand that little puke Tkachuk. Might be tough with Hutch in but he's been pretty decent and Leafs just need to play solid D, keep them to the outside.

he went into the season as a 4th string goalie on a team that lost two goalies above him to waivers/injury. Teams can't keep bringing in #1 goalies or defensemen or forwards to keep up a steady stockpile of high end players in every position in case they lose someone

I agree in principle, but this is a great opportunity for this team to finally make a deep run in the playoffs, and we've had bad luck with injuries most of the season with arguably the most important position on the team. That is why I think we should acquire some insurance in goal.

It will be nice if Simmonds did something, like anything

I’d be happy if he was just taken off the PP tbh

Just overload the first unit and play it the entire two minutes like every other team does.

Matthews getting one minute of PP so Thornton can also get a minute is so insane to me. Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares and Rielly should play the whole thing.

Hilarious? well then you can laugh all you want when the friggin Habs knock us out in the first round. Listen, I am a die hard of a Leafs fan as you're going to get and have been since 1974 (I still remember watching Sittler score 10 points), I always support the Leafs and make excuses for their failures.

I don't know what you are reading cause I did not say you have to outscore your problems but at least score one friggin PP goal so we don't always have to go into OT or SO cause otherwise that will come back to haunt us in the playoffs.

But now, this is our chance to actually succeed in the playoffs and to do that, you have to be good defensively AND offensively like the Bolts, Avs and Knights are. I am not being negative but realistic. If we can't excel on both sides or even score a single PP goal against these weaker Canadian teams, any chances for the Cup are over, we will not beat any of those 3 mentioned teams, even if we do manage to get out of our division.

We've got Hutchinson in net tonight so they better learn how to score sooner than later even against a weak Flames team.

For context again...

16 team in a playoff spot as of right now, record last 10 games.

Fla 7-3-0
TB 6-4-0 (2 losses to Detroit)
Car 5-3-2
Nas 8-2-0

Was 7-3-0
NYI 6-4-0
Pit 6-3-1
Bos 5-4-1

Col 8-0-2
Veg 5-4-1
Min 6-3-1
Arz 5-4-1
(StL) 2-7-1 Not a playoff team but expected

Tor 6-3-1
Edm 6-3-1
Win 5-4-1
Mon 5-3-2

So the Leafs that played .800 hockey for the first third of the year, were the fake Leafs and the team over the past 10 that is .600 is the team that will be knocked out by Montreal?

Meanwhile, besides the Avs, no team is in a stretch of dominate play. It's like taking a 10 game snapshot out of an entire season is not a rational way to build a hypothesis

Spezza's shootout winner, goal of the year. Vote now.
First off, I truly appreciate how Spezza has been able to come home to play out his career on his terms and accept a limited role but excel at it. As a fan of the Game I cannot help but cheer for the man.

Secondly, I’ve said it before, but I love your avatar. I’m posting this meme again because I’m so seldom on your Board.

Who’s ready for the most exciting play in sports? The Rielly slow roll predictable drop pass from the red line back into our own zone

Why break out of your own zone once when you can do it twice?
