This is hilarious to read especially after all the years of us being told defence wins playoff series and you can’t outscore your problems in the playoffs.

Now we’re good defensively and the new complaint is that you have to outscore your problems to win in the playoffs and we don’t score enough (which is false).

Man some Leafs “fans” are so negative that it makes me questions if they actually want the team to succeed or if they just want to complain about stuff
This is the best Leafs team we have seen since 2003-04, but you’d never know it with the daily crying.

Definitely sire. You already knew. Also eh uh, adding up that thang is the fact andy andersen is also gittin back for us. So we will have a steady sucka ready to back up our new number uno cambpell sire. So that's fun too. And andy will only play "hutch minutes" anymore :) Sire.

I don't care about this one game but the overall picture is concerning IMO. Two days after playing, he may or may not be healthy enough to dress as a backup if I'm understanding this correctly. I hope he's a lot healthier by the time the playoffs start but if this injury occurred in January, not sure how optimistic we can be that this will be the case.

I think you might be reading too much into it, I think they are maybe deciding whether its necessary to dress him or not. I don't think he's injured as much as he was before. Maybe they are debating whether giving him the night off will be more beneficial than risking overloading him.

We shall find out more tomorrow when Keefe announces Hutch will play back-to-back :sarcasm:

Yes, not starting in a b2b is fine, not even dressing, that’s another matter. Precarious situation in seems it goal.

It's actually insane to see. Pretty much game in and game out our lines are playing defensively sound, while also out chancing the other team. Each line is spending more time with the puck and in the other zone.

This has been clamored for for nearly a decade, yet now we want a superteam where every line gets a goal a game. Our 2nd line is producing better then many first lines - yet that isn't sufficient. Then there is this strange expectation for the 3rd and 4th lines to be scoring regularly, which is also crazy. The expectations for our bottom six should be outplaying the other teams - which almost consistently has been the case.

Case in point is Engvall who is a bottom six player and that has been established. He has amazing zone exit and entries stats, he is great at cycling, and all other possession stats. All those things indicate that when he is on the ice, most likely the puck is going into the other zone and staying there. Yet from a 3rd and 4th liner because he doesn't cash in on a lot of chances some want him off the team.

I honestly wouldn’t even worry about the not dressing thing either. I mean yes with Campbell’s struggles there’s more meaning put into it, but earlier in the year when we still had Dell the Leafs didn’t dress Andersen in favour of having Dell backup Campbell. I think him not dressing is more to maximize the amount of rest possible seeing as a backup still has to dress and skate warmups.

You can scratch them, but they count against the cap unless they go on the taxi squad.

Bogosian has been really good. If he was left-handed, I'd give him a shot over Dermott, but our right side doesn't have room right now.

We don't have the cap space to carry 7 defensemen, so that complicates things too.
Great thanks. Hamstrung then I guess. So unless we waive someone which isn't going to happen obviously, the same D-core plays every game.

I was thinking the same thing, but if that were the case why would they be on the fence about it? They want to see how he feels before they make that decision, that leads one to believe that he’s still in rough shape, and not good enough shape to warm up.

Winning the next 2 pretty much puts Calgary out.

I think the 4 teams are pretty much set... but teams can always make big runs... but pressure is all on them.

Sweep them up... let's go Leafs. Play good d and move your feet. A powerplay goal to get rolling again would be nice.

Likely Woll backing up tonight? You have to wonder if we will try and trade for another #3 type before the deadline. There are concerns with both Freddie and Jack.. don't want to have to roll only with Hutch and Woll. I'd like to see Dell back or grab Forsberg from the Sens once they get Hogberg back.
Woll is with the Marlies. If Campbell can't go VV will back up.

I think we are due to come out and really dominate a team. A scoring explosion amidst a 200' solid team defense game would be jubilence.

Well if that's how "high" you're gonna set the bar, sure be happy. I believe our goal is to win the cup this year and with that in mind, there' plenty to discuss.

Also, discussion != crying.

It's not that I'm reading anything into it, it's that I have no idea what to read into it and that uncertainty has me worried. And what was posted wasn't whether it's necessary to dress him, it was whether or not to dress him based on "how he feels".

The odds of going through even one playoff round at this point without needing a second goalie seem pretty slim ATM, IMHO that's cause to a little bit worried. Perhaps even more than a little bit.
