I mean I don't think it is poor asset management unless you think we should have traded him by now/should trade him this season? He basically needs to beat Holl out for a protection slot and Sandin is a far more logical replacement option as the 3rd LD for next season then really anyone we have in house to replace Holl.losing dermott to expansion will be stupid asset management. At present; Leafs top4 has no space with Rielly-Brodie and Muzzin-Holl. It is less about Dermott's capability. I am sure we will be able to re-sign Rielly at a reasonable cap hit; incase Mo walks as a UFA we will need someone to fill his spot. I dont expect Sandin/Lily to fill top4 duties right off the bat
Lol tennis elbow

I mean Dermott isn't a kid anymore. He is in his mid 20's and at best has shown flashes. I have honestly never seen the physical in your face hockey from Dermott but he does move the puck well. I like him but I am not attached to him like many seem to be. Typically defensemen that can play higher up the lineup at some point force the issue while getting easy minutes and sheltered matchups and Dermott has at no point forced his way into more ice time.I dont think we ever got to see what Dermott can do in top 4 with extended minutes; so making him expendable without even seeing what we have is not logical to me. Dermott plays physical in your face hockey too and moves puck well.
Holl I think is more Muzzin than himself; I think dubas had said they expect to see Dermott play on the right side - this is before we signed Brodie though; so cap considerations might have to be taken moving forward. Holl makes more than Dermott so if we can sign Dermott cheap Holl becomes expendable
I’m glad he’s up with Tavares and Willy tonight. They had it going on pretty good before he had his injury. Keefe should just keep that together for awhilejust a hunch... i think soup is gonna step up and have a great game tonight
Oh man I can’t even unread that lolI know of a guy who got tennis elbow because he was sitting in front the computer and heavily used the mouse. He got tennis elbow on the same arm he used the mouse with

Nylander should try keeping up to him when he’s on the rush. Soupie can make some passes if anyone is there keeping up to him. He’s been in all alone so many times without puck support off the rush. There’s never anyone even close to him when he takes off. I think this is going to work too.just a hunch... i think soup is gonna step up and have a great game tonight
winning back to back vs same team is always tough, but honestly i believe our chances tonight are much better than on sunday. we were set up to fail with the start time, the amount of games played compared to the flames and the travel. we played relatively poorly and still won, those types of games are usually needed to sweep b2b against teams. tonight i expect a better effort and another w tbh.looks like Joey Anderson and Travis Boyd are going to check into the lineup tonight. Love this move. It has been an early trend league wide so far this year that the team who loses the 1st game of a back to back comes out hot and typically wins the 2nd leg of the BTB. I don't have the numbers on this, but its seems to be what I am noticing early on. Pts are way to valuable for teams to lose on both ends of a back to back, which I believe has resulted in the higher motivation to win from the losing team. Injecting some life into the lineup will really help combat that. I am not expecting offence from the 2 necessarily, but hopefully they can be counted on to play with some jam if/when the ice tilts out of favor. I am excited to see what they bring. I liked both of their games in the blue/white game
He needs to find a girlfriend and soon

Leafs offered a 3 year deal, he didn't take it.
My favourite starting lineup of the year.
Ya I really agree with you on that. Sunday was a scripted L in so many ways before the puck had even dropped. Good teams find ways to gut out those W’s. Happy they were able to get it done. But the job is not done. Flames will come out hard tonight. The boys will have to be up to the taskwinning back to back vs same team is always tough, but honestly i believe our chances tonight are much better than on sunday. we were set up to fail with the start time, the amount of games played compared to the flames and the travel. we played relatively poorly and still won, those types of games are usually needed to sweep b2b against teams. tonight i expect a better effort and another w tbh.![]()
Am I the only one here who thought Kyle Clifford was absolutely useless when he was here. Simmonds has done much more in a much smaller sample size. Love his character more too.
for sure. when i heard the postgame and to a man they were all saying that they didnt play well, my expectations for this game were elevated. they know they got away with one there, in the past they might have focused on the win more than the effort(to be clear i dont think they played badly). i think we are in good shape for this game.Ya I really agree with you on that.
