Feels like this was the perfect opportunity for Hildeby. Doesn't get much better than this, a bottom feeder with the flu going through the locker room.

Fire keefe.

Hildeby will start one of the sharks games coming up
I'm not sure I see the reason for so much commotion. They'll presumably give the kid one of the San Jose games. It won't get any easier than that for him.

So you think Samsonov will be back on Saturday? That's the last game of the road trip.
I read that the plan was that Samsonov is going to work with the goalie coach for a week and not even play any games for the Marlies then go from there. I imagine he would have to play in some games in the AHL first to prove he's not in Sieve mode before he's brought back up.

Regarding tonight's lineup and the change/non-change that I may or may not agree with, I'll refrain from making any comments until the result is in. ;)

San Jose is also awful and we’ve got them on Saturday. I can see that being a potential NHL start for Hildeby with a rested group in front of him. However it still feels very risky to play Jones in this situation when right now he’s as far as we know the best we’ve got at goaltending. Guess we’ll all just have to hope and pray nothing goes wrong for him tonight.

Zero chance.
Hope you’re right

That’s what I read too. Hope it’s not true but it wouldn’t surprise me at all

So the development plan for Hildeby is to have him not play hockey for a month. Got it
Perhaps the plan is to not use a backup unless absolutely necessary and to frotate between the two AHL goalies as the backup. So, when the Leafs go homw after Sarurday's game, they send Hildeby back to the Marlies and call up Petruzzelli. Then the following week when they head out west again, they call up Hildeby and send back Petruzelli. And so until they no longer need a backup.

We have two more back to backs this month. The 13/14 and 20/21. The plan is to murder Jones?

I'm not sure I see the concern. He's 33 years old with no real injury history. He has 4 seasons of 60+ games. I don't think they need to bubble wrap him, especially against maybe the second worst team in the league. I doubt he will get even as much work as he had last night.

I can’t say anything as I have a cartoon turd with a halo over its head. But I agree. Hahahah
I thought it was a very happy ant….. 😳

Disagree with starting Jones over Hildeby but what else is more consistent than the Leafs galaxy braining what is so obvious to everyone else.

You stats guys, got any numbers on how often the same goalie has started consecutive games on consecutive days? I’m curious if our geniusoity shines through yet again.

Agreed; I'm not seeing fatigue as a factor any time soon. Any injury he does sustain would likely come from getting run over which is something that could happen any game

Doesn't seem to wise to waive a goalie 2 days before a b2b (regardless of how badly he's playing) if they are so concerned about playing the call up.
