The most interesting thing about this win is 33 million dollar cap hit had a combined 1 assist. Especially given all that PP time.

Hopefully they save those games for Ottawa and not games where they are actually needed.

If I’m reading Boxscore correctly, Campbell didn’t have a single save to make when Ottawa were on the power play, if so that is remarkably well done on the penalty kill.

Just watched the game. Very happy to see the Leafs back in action and in a very convincing way. Score could have been run up much further, several 100 percent chances not converted.

Having said that. TJ Brodie had one of his biggest games as a Leaf. A goal, an assist and a save. And that stretch to stop the Eens from creating a huge opportunity was massive as well.

Ilya Mikheyev has been so unlucky over the last 1,5 seasons with freak injuries, that it was really good to see him flying today. His speed and reach make him so valuable and if he starts scoring goals his value will go up even further.

And another shutout for Jack. Really good to see. The fourth line also had an outstanding game.

Loads of reasons to be happy this morning.

Jack is awesome but really he had an easy night

Doesn't matter though. He still didn't give out any soup. Easy nights are usually the nights that a softy goes in on a goalie toward the end of the game causing him to lose the shutout. He came up with the saves he needed make. He won. He gets my meme. :dunno:

Great win, SO nice to get some Leaf hockey again. Jack pushing for that Vezina, Nylander pushing for his first PPG season, team still in the running for 1st place. Nothing really to critique except for Marner and Matthews having zero chemistry at 5v5 or on the PP but that'll come as it's been awhile since Mitch suited up.

Feel really really bad for Connor Brown the hockey player every time he plays the Leafs. In another era he'd still be here but being a 3rd liner getting 1st line usage on a bad team has its perks ($3.6M AAV).

Don't believe the HNIC blather, Matt Murray is a total mess: pucks are going under him when he sprawls (the whole point of sprawling is to cover pucks along the ice) and at other times he doesn't even seem to react to shots.
