I missed the game. Is there a synopsis on how we did? Sounds like it was a Carlyle-era win.

Kind of funny and obviously a small sample size but look how many stats Toronto is at or near top of the playoffs in, then look at Montreal - hits. May need to rethink that strategy.

I don't really think it works that way in the playoffs

The Habs are playing for their playoff lives tomorrow, they will be committed

It's going to be up to us to match that intensity and bring the game home
Yes that's true but doesn't mean we are not in their heads like that.

I didn't watch the entire game. But I saw someone ragdoll Matthews. Did the boys lay a beating on anyone?

True! Good points. If the Leafs can jump out with a couple of goals and keep the Habs contained offensively, it will really grind them down.

Really important to not give the Habs life/momentum.. especially offensively where they have been struggling
Of we go up 2-0 quickly they will fold

I think they probably shot their wad on this one. We are deeper and better and I like the back to back right now.

The Leafs dominated the first two periods but Price stood on his head. Montreal dominated the 3rd period but Campbell shut the door

No, not even close. Good first period, great second period, turtle third period. Not perfect, but not bad.

Not really, Price played very well again. Could have been 3-1 or 4-1 before the 3rd if it wasn't for him in net.

Seems to contradict 90% of what is in this thread... Must be the truth (in the HFboards case)!

Led all players with 24:00 minutes, 1 primary assist, 5 shots, plus 1, no giveaways, 1 block and was on the ice for 3 minutes to close out the win?

I love Mitchy but I just think he's capable of playing better

Defensively I think he played well. I see the big difference on the offence. He's not playing like regular season Mitch.

That was some awful hockey by the Leafs. Jack Campbell pretty much won that on his own.
The Leafs dominated the first and second periods and held on by playing smart defensively in the third. You can question that strategy but awful hockey ? C’mon. That’s the rype of game to play against a low scoring team like Montreal. Not opening it up and trading rush chances. A win is a win.

Leafs were pretty awful in the first and third period. They won on a dominant second period and superb third period goaltending from Campbell. He gave up a stinker, but it didn't matter.

I was impressed by Kerfoot, Engvall, Simmonds and Nylander.

Marner and Thornton bring nothing to the powerplay. Marner did set up Rielly for the roofer that won the game, but beyond that, he was pretty bad all game long.

Didn't notice Matthews in a good way at all. Pretty invisible, disappointing to see that.

Our top paid guys were pretty meh while our secondary players were better.

I should be happy about a victory, but I don't know why, I just have that, "meh" feeling about it.

Glad they won though.

If they put in Andersen tomorrow after playing one game in two months, then management is essentially telling fans they don't care about winning. Simple as that.

If Andersen is in net, they'll lose.

That was a full-on collapse in the 3rd. Good defense LOL. It's a good thing it was Montreal more like. They missed an empty net.

What is wrong with Foligno? I like his addition but he is damaged goods since his arrival.
We should ask Columbus for a refund for our 1st pick. There should be at least a 90 days warranty period for such a costly item. Did Columbus conceal his injury?

The more I watch the power play and comparing it to the top powers plays in the league it’s pretty obvious that they’re missing another good shooter especially for one timers. If the opponent takes Matthews lane away there is no option on the other wing with Marner since he’s not a shooter. I would try Nylander over there and put Marner on the second unit. Marner is a great passer but there are not enough shooting options for him to take advantage of.
