The only thing about this is that the best shooters/scorers on the team are Matthews, Nylander, McMann and Knies and I'd want Mitch playing with at least one of them.

But this top 9 I'd be okay with, at least to give a try.

Berube has enough talent to ice 3 solid lines that can produce yet for some reason (actually one I just addressed above) he refuses to.
I think JT still slots in there right behind Matty and Willy, and is still our 2C, which Mitch needs more than Willy. Also Patches and JT are slower skaters, which suit Mitch's game more than Willy's.

Leafs record in Vancouver is complete dogshit. 26-49-11 all time, and only 2 wins in the post-lockout era. There is a higher chance of them beating the 2002 Red Wings in their prime than there is them winning a game in Vancouver.
Past record is meaningless. This Canucks team without Hughes? Leafs win.

It’s meaningless, other than the unarguable fact that the Leafs habitually lose to Vancouver (in Vancouver), decade after decade. But I agree it’s still meaningless.
These are irrelevant stats like the Leafs not beating Arizona at home in X number of years, and then they beat them easily a couple of times in a row at home. Vancouver with Miller and Hughes? It may not be a barn-burner, but I think it will be similar to the Calgary game.

Arizona was question of a few years as opposed to decades of futility in Vancouver.

You're probably right here, though about tomorrow. No Miller and no Hughes would give Vancouver a lineup that was looking a little like what we looked like about 4 or 5 games ago.

Maybe a trillionaire's Domi. The only thing Domi does better than Marner is take idiotic penalties from time to time.

The takes in these threads are so bad.

It's an inconvenient truth for some that Marner and Domi are cut from the same cloth.

All one has to do is compare Matthews with Domi to Matthews with Marner since Domi has been on the team. In terms of both On-Ice and Individual Rates Matthews performs better with Domi. It really isn't particularly close either.

The results speak for themselves.

Matthews with Domi:
CF%: 60.44, FF%: 61.03, SF%: 62.34, GF%: 65.79, xGF%: 67.75, SCF%: 62.11, HDCF%: 71.58 Goals/60: 2.75, Points/60: 4.75, Shots/60: 15.24, ixG/60: 1.56

Matthews with Marner
CF%: 54.86, FF%: 56.01, SF%: 55.83, GF%: 58.33, xGF%: 55.74, SCF%: 57.90, HDCF%: 60.04, Goals/60: 1.45, Points/60: 2.69, Shots/60: 11.71, ixG/60: 1.24

5-on-5 this year Marner has 7 goals and 34 points while Domi has 3 goals and 15 points.

Are the 4 goals and 19 points difference between the two worth an extra $10M a year? Domi has played the majority of the year on the third line with league minimum replacement level players while Marner has been a staple on the top line with elite linemates. Add in the fact Domi actually sticks up for his teammates and it's clear who is bringing more value for their pay.

Domi is Marner-lite whether you like it or not.

We all have our favs, I suppose.

Either that or Ferris is going to be repping Myers as well. :sarcasm:
For sure, Marner thinks Holmberg is the best player. I know you were joking about the rep, but Myers is represented by Allain Roy.

Lol. The Leafs have had the better team than Vancouver for the better part of 8-9 years now, and that hasn't made a difference. There were far worse Vancouver rosters we lost to.
